Apple Snow Leopard upgrade price - £25.00 or £39.00 for the family pack (3 licenses) (MSRP) (link)
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade - £200.00 (MSRP) (link)

Some Apple things aren't cheap, but on the other hand some are, and look good value compared to Microsoft. The real difference is in the work environment, where Microsoft like to really bump up the prices...

They dont make their money on software they make it by selling overpriced shiney things.

There must be a short sub-routine to load and run which stops the damned Microsoft police flashing there blo*dy warning up and telling me to resolve now / resolve later surely... :p

:confused: Bear with you Custardy bloke...? ;)

I might try it, just fed up of playing Cat & Mouse with MS & being suspicious of every single Update they push out lol!

well theres um evaluation W7 versions around for W7 ultimate ;)
it adds to the risk factor of you PC waiting to see if you get the little nag screen popping up ;)

applehardware =expensive
apple software=cheap
microsoft hardware=expensive
microsoft software=expensive
linux=free

@chas is this the same lack of functionality that microsoft has been copying since the 80s then and always managed to be about 3 years behind? and the same lack of functionality you find by Microsoft that always gets worse as they dont rewrite their operating systems they just add to them hence why theyve got progressively worse.

tbh os rulers in decending order

linux
mac
windows

and thats fact. linux is a lot more stable and secure than the other two and also supports nearly all hardware.mac is thecomprimise between the two as it is easy to use and integrates with both linux and windows very easily. windows is bottom because despite being used by the conformist sheep it is very insecure, unstable and excruciatingly overpriced for its functionality.

I know sweet FA about computers but we dont have any of the problems or use all this technical Jargon crap to keep our macs up and running. They do cost a fair bit to buy, but every so often i get an auomatic free security update and such like.
I have a laptop which still works fine after 6 years of abuse and no servicing apart from an OS upgrade. And yes it is still shiny :D

...that people are prepared to pay for so that they don't have to run Windows! :p

Then why do Apple make a big thing about their computers being able to dual boot with Windows then? And how come a number of Apple owners I know run Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office on their systems despite having Leopard/ Giraffe/ Hippopotamus or whatever name they call their os system? :confused: Surely if Apple were so good they wouldn't need to go to the dark side of Microsoft and Windows ;)

And Rolf, PC hardware is dirt cheap, not expensive, because of the huge amount of competition between manufacturers and the huge volumes of units that are sold. You know, the old mass production economic model of supplying for up to 90% of the worlds computer users ;)

Edit: And I don't have any Microsoft hardware in my machine and nor do most PC users? Other than the odd few devices (i.e. Zune player) Microsoft don't make their money from hardware, they make it from software and operating systems. Unlike Apple who have a greater reason for selling you cheaper software after you've paid well over the odds for their hardware ;)

Thats because you lick apples arse and would continue to do so even if it had sh*t all over it because they hadnt wiped after forcing one out.

i didnt say pc hardware. i said microsoft hardware. if you want to talk about compatible hardware then mac hardware is just as cheap which would make a mac computer considerably cheaper than a wondows one. (hackintosh64;)) i said specifically microsoft hardware and specifically apple hardware.

Can you name some Windows hardware that is commonly used then that you're basing your argument on?

And can you give a substantiated example of where a 'compatible' based hardware built Apple computer is considerably cheaper than an equivilent spec and performing PC?

Go on, I DARE you!

That carries 0 weight Carl. You live with your parents. They buy what they want not what you like. YOU dont have 11 PCs your house does. And anyway even if you personally did have 11 PCs then you wouldnt slate them at every oppourtunity would you?
