Funnily enough, currys and the other major retailers recently have been trying with large deals like that to get people back out of supermarkets for items like that.

I have always started them when i have thought there is something worth anybody taking a look at, I made the promise after I bought my laptop but didn't tell people on here until the night before and a few would have wanted to get one they said.

The digi cam for £200 could be worth a look for some people I reckon anyway...

From my experience with digital cameras the pixel quantity isn't a guarantee of good quality. It helps when you can shrink down a 6.3 megapixel photo to a sensible size, but I bet there are plenty of lower spec cameras on paper that can take better quality pics.

The make, traveller, always have good reviews from my experience - search the net. However, I have seen good and bad cameras from every make, except Sony who actually seem to make good cameras surprisingly. For example, my friend's 3.2 olympus is the most awful camera, i would think it was a fault except his twin brother's is exactly the same.

Dave, you're thinking of interpolation, sadly I don't honestly know.

my sisters 2,2 megapixel olympus, is fine, and you can zoom in quite abit!!

i just hope my camera isnt faulty, cuz everytime i connect it, the pc crashes!!!

The Mavica is supposed to be the first "proper" digital camera, the one with the floppy disc. Some of the cybershots I have been really impressed with in terms of how advanced they are. My comment about Sony was simply due to fact they make a lot of very average stuff and try to think people will buy it because to the average person it's the "best" product.

They are a funny company actually. I guess it's the same for all the really large electronics companies who make ranges to suit all budgets. Pioneer for example, make some fairly dire products, but they also make the best AV receiver in the world in the under £3000 price range.

Hey, the Mavica!

I got to use one of these in a job I did back in 2000, it cost something like £800 at te time and was the dogs danglies!

Looking back though it was huge!

I think most of the manufacturers are making a big mistake sacrificing quality for convenience. Not just where electronics are concerned, it is the same with many products getting smaller.

Liam, was it the FDD version? We used it in school - was great as we could just upload to our own disks. Some of them used 8cm CDs and now there's a DVD one i think!

Dave, I see that every week, it's not a bad deal but I'm very pleased with my cam :D

It's not a bad price for a branded camera, as you say though, no guarentee it's great. However, as it's Asda, if it is rubbish they wouldn't have a problem with you taking it back I don't think.
