I've just had a thought reading another thread and can't make up my mind if it's a thick question or not so i'll ask here anyways 
Why can't electric cars have an alternator? I know it wouldn't be the same as in a petrol engine but you get watches that charge themselves up with movement, would you be able to apply that to something as big as a car? So that it charges it's self up?
