For many years now and let's face it, it seems like more years than the Bravo/a and Marea has even existed, our very own (Less-than) Grumpy Old Man and Court Jester, Patrick has been entertaining us with his inane ramblings such as "They don't make 'em like they used to" and "The youth of today don't know they're born" while shaking his withered hand angrily at the world in general.
Now, due more to the fact that the senile old bugger keeps clogging up the forum with threads that have been heard to generate such responses as "WTF" and "Whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis", (neither of which he understands as they are both from a post-green shield stamps era), we give him his very own thread.
Keep your eyes on this one as all his "Ramblings" will now be posted here and I guarantee that this will be one of the most viewed threads in BOO history.
So bring it on you silly ol' sod! :)

now this is going to be an entertaing thread :)

c'mon old boy... get the ball rolling!

Hello young uns:)

I would thank to thank al for allowing a space for the voice of reson to be heard on this forum at long last, lol.

Naturally my fist rant/lecture/article will be on how the old days were indeed far better than today and that includes just about every way you can think of.

Music??? Who the hell have we got today that can even carry a tune let alone sow the star presence that the top ones had in my younger day? Now I am just as red bloodedd as the next male 9especially when the tablets kick in) and I dont mind looking at eye candy such as the ***** cat dolls, kylie ect but all their songs are totally unforgetabble, and if it wasnt for their videos no one would have heard of them.
Just listen to this clip for sheer talent.

Non of you young uns will remember the excitement we older ones felt each thursday when it was time for our weekly ration of top of the pops, sure we had crap djs such as jimmy saville ect, but at least the music was exciting. Now there are scores of music channels on the tv, but they all play the same crap. Whilst still on the music scene, where are all the wild rockers of my youth? Remember ozzy snorting a line of ants when he was high? Keith moon aand the car in the swimming pool? What about alice cooper and his stage act? Nowaday we have cheap chave copiycats like oasis, that pete doherty tosser and other cheap wannabe's.

While still on the entairtainment scene, what about stars of the silver screen? When I went to the cinema as a kid, you sat in the dark looking at big gold curtains, then the lights dimmed, the curtains opened, on came the pearl and dean adverts and then the big film started, and I mean big film!! Films like, zulu, a bridge too far, bullit, cool hand luke, numerous ganster films with hidden moral messages. I was brought up on Bogart, Gagney, Mcqueen, Big john wayne, for sheer coolness you couldnt beat gary grant and who do you have? Johnny depp (a one trick pony) and the heroes of today seem to be the latest foul mouthed chav (or chavess) winner of big brother, and by the way, the lastest entrant include two fat gay guys who are a couple and want to get married in the house....WTF????

Films nowadays are ither just cashing in on a winning formula like the rocky/spiderman/pirates sequals or are cheap rip of copies of classics, who can forget the horrendous get carter with stallone, or the remaks of the italian job, the wicker man ect. Its gets worse, now they are going to remak the long good friday!!!

BRING BACK MY YOUTH!!!!!!

I was also going to include the terrible state of spelling amongst todays youth until I saw all the typos on my post, lol. My excuse is that I am at work at the monet so dont have a spell checker

How dare you mention Rocky Balboa in your rant...easily the best film this year, Stallone has done his character justice!!

:)

That comment is only valid if you are old enough to have seen the first Rocky movie on it's original release in the cinema ;)

Patrick,

Do you recall the fantastic gangster series on TV called "Big Breadwinner Hogg"?

After being thought that all tapes for it were lost I've just seen that all six episodes are on DVD.

The kids today will rarely (if ever) see something that caused such controversy. Can't wait to get it.
I reckon it was as good as "I Claudius". "Tinker Tailor Soldier...Spy" and latterly "Deadwood"

Did you ever see it? Or was it before your time?

Stuart.

Nice one old timer! Waht an excelent start to thi s theread. Cant wait ft the rest!! :)
Oooo Im so drunk.
