General Stilo or Golf?!

General Stilo or Golf?!

I'm sorry to have to say this but on reading some of the reviews on the Bravo I'd say Stilo prices are just as likely to go up :D

Most of the 'extras' come on the older models anyway :)

what reviews have you read??all the reviews I have read have said it's going to be pretty good..and it's much better looking than the stilo!!

In the months running up to the launch of the stilo they sold a "special series" model...which had a spoiler,foglights,alloys..they had a good bit of extra kit!!so they might do it again!!

If you dig out some of the original reviews of the Stilo then I'd say IMO it fairs slightly better than the Bravo. Many idiot reviewers start with the comment that it's a much better car than the Stilo  which on that basis takes some working out

..and it's much better looking than the stilo!!
Are you trying to kid yourself  I think you're the first person I've heard make that comment. I'd say the Bravo merges with the styling of many modern cars, and looks OK if that’s what you want, but lacks the distinctive lines of the Stilo.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting the new Bravo down - in fact I hope Fiat do well with it - but I like to paint a picture of how things really are rather than how other people (the media) would like to convince you they are :)

many people agree with me that it looks better than the stilo..the stilo has aged badly and looks very out dated compared to its rivals
It does

You sure you're not quoting from a car magazine because that sure sounds like the rubbish some car magazines print (n)

Everyone is welcome to their own view though.

They definately are, they were on the newer stilos i believe. A set of them just sold on another forum there, I would've told you about them if i knew you were looking for that style.

I'm having no luck with dealers so because they don't seem to think they exist. Any word on the Stilo? Really wanting to get this work done

The Stilo hasn't aged and still looks better than most cars out there. Curvy cars are not necessarily nice cars! If the Stilo had have been redesigned but keeping its main features then it would be a far better looking car. The bravo just has some nice features/gimics to it with some nice finishes on an ugly-ish car.

thats typical of dealers, they try to avoid anything that might be a bit of hassle for them. They're only interested in selling cars. I'm still looking, have a guy i know who deals in cars a bit on the lookout aswell. Check your PM about the bodyshop.

i do like the stilo don't get me wrong..but fiat should have done more to update it..all they have done to the stilo is take kit off it to make it cheaper..they updated the rear lights and the interior. in my opinion the new bravo is a better looking car than the stilo..so was the old bravo!!

Maybe its because you like the old Bravo that you're loyal to the new one? Personally the only Fiat I like is the Stilo. If I was even thinking of the new Bravo I would quickly change my mind and go for a 147 instead!.. Second hand of course. Very similar styling..but far nicer. For the price though the Bravo does give you a lot and its well finished.

Cash, yeah I got it cheers. Replied there too. Yeah the dealers don't want to help me much either. Was told there was a second key and it would be sent to me. 3 weeks later and no key so emailed him the other day(nice guy though) and he said there was no key and to ge and get one cut in nearest dealer and he will refund me immediately. I'm going for the key with the buttons not the cheap key ;)

Was out with Hanley there too and he said he knew you. I'm Breff anyways.. I'll say hello next time I'm in the shop! Look out for the spikey haired fellow!

One thing thats annoying me about the car though is the clutch! Theres really no travel on the biting point and seem to stall the car a lot. Maybe this is a Fiat thing in general. I know a few people on here have mentioned it before. Any tips? The accelerator is so sensitive so I tend to over rev to stop it stalling but not meaning to.

Can totally agree!!.. got mine last thursday must of stalled it 4 times at least...

learning curve i think!!

baring that cant fault it...

and for £3995 with 20k on the clock 52 plate dynamic 1.6 ... think its a bargain..

Just to chuck my hat in here!

I think the general consensus is that the Grande Punto is the looker in the range. Pretty much anyone I point it out likes the look of it.

No-one I know thinks my Stilo is good looking. Strange I know cos I like it, and most think its ok. Those same people are loving the look of the Grande Punto.

On that basis FIAT have made the right choice with the Bravo.

I've not seen a Bravo in the flesh so I will reserve judgement but from the press shots it looks quite nice. Front overhang is too long but otherwise good.

However the Stilo looks a million times better than a mk3 or 4 Golf and drives better than the mk5 TDI I had in Italy.

Yeah people either love it or hate it! Nice to know it drives better than the mk5 TDI :yum:

Yeah theres a good bit of a learning curve on it. Used to it now but it can still surprise you!

The Stilo looks ok in 3 door sporty form in a bold colour, but a 5 door in a bland colour is probably the worlds most bland anonymous car.....I saw a 5dr jtd in a nondescript dark red and it could have been anything! I also dont remember the Stilo getting good reviews when it was new...they were just ok.
The new Bravo looks good from the pictures Ive seen and has been praised for its looks...although its been criticised for its dynamics. Lets hope they make a version with the glorious 5 cylinder engine!
As for the Golf...the Mk5 is a reasnobly good looking car and drives well...but its only really special in 3 dr GTI spec as far as I can tell. VW build quality isnt what it used to be either!!!

You wont find many people on this Forum that take reviews very seriously :p

Obvious point really - as otherwise we wouldn't be driving Stilos :)

Not true.....Ive just bought mine and the reviews werent too far wrong (and I knew abotu them before I bought it)! The chassis doesnt feedback well, the semi auto box is a bit clunky but its well screwed together (certainly better than any Fiat Ive had before....Marea, Uno, Punto, Tipo) and the engine is a gem. At the end of the day they are cheap, relatively stylish and the JTD and 20V engines are good.....but they dont handle particularly well and dont have the charisma of some earlier Fiats.

Must be a regional thing as I experience the opposite. My co-workers have nothing good to say about the two GP's in the works car-park. I had to point them out as they are pretty non-descript. My Stilo gets commented on regularly and it might have something to do with lines/colours. For me there is no GP on the planet that looks as good as a 3 dr Stilo. Bravo is nice but still miles from anything that takes my fancy. It has to look great and it just doesn't. Now if it was yellow:)

I think you are seriously deluding yourself.....the motoring world and the public has warmed to the GP big style.....the Stilo was by and large a flop for Fiat. The GP has been described by most as a Maserati look hatchback and recieved excellent reviews and has excellent sales figures so far......and I would say that most people would agree. My 3 dr Stilo Abarth is a nice looking car but its nothing special.....but I dont get blinded by cars because I own them.
