Brilliant I'll chance it now then!
The replicas are sounding tempting now though. Theres some nice claws on the classifieds here. Ah because I'm in all the time so I would prob know your face!

Edit: Just rang H&M there and they don't do "accessories" and told me to try michael barrabels. Rang them and they were just closed so I'll try in the morning.

they're f*ckn pr*cks, I hate that crap. They're a Fiat dealer they should distribute anything made by fiat, they're just being lazy saying that, they can't be arsed to get on the computer and make a simple order ffs. The replicas are a huge saving, that 400 yo-yos could go a long way. I do like the claws, I saw a set in anthracite that looked the bleedin shiznit.

I'll keep an eye out for someone who pulls up in a Stilo :D

Lol well I just drove by your car about 10mins ago. Parked outside the Pharmacy there on Clare road! You're Cassos mate then right?

Was out with Hanley there too and he said he knew you. I'm Breff anyways.. I'll say hello next time I'm in the shop! Look out for the spikey haired fellow!

One thing thats annoying me about the car though is the clutch! Theres really no travel on the biting point and seem to stall the car a lot. Maybe this is a Fiat thing in general. I know a few people on here have mentioned it before. Any tips? The accelerator is so sensitive so I tend to over rev to stop it stalling but not meaning to.

Ah Breffni, yeh i know you, you hang around with griff and them lot. Thats mad.

Have you been driving long? Sounds like what happens when you're only starting to drive. Every car is different so if you learned in another car it will take a while before you get used to the clutch/accelerator on the stilo.

Ye thats me alright. Yeah only picked up the car last Sat but I'd been doin lessons for a while. I know its due to inexperience also but even the intructor stalled it twice and said it was fairly hard. Will take some getting used to.

Its not really a bad thing or anything,.. but thats the only dislike I have about the car. Everything else is sweet!

When you thinking of changing? Seen any nice ones around?

did you buy the car from a dealership? If so have them check it out. It may be a result of the previous owner riding the clutch too much, the release bearing might be worn. Is the gear change itself smooth?

I'll probably change in april/may, to have it for the summer is the plan anyway. I've been checking carzone regularly, few nice ones i've had my eye on.

You should wait until the new bravo comes out in May and get a stilo then..they'll go cheaper and you'll get all the extras!!
I'm sorry to have to say this but on reading some of the reviews on the Bravo I'd say Stilo prices are just as likely to go up :D

Most of the 'extras' come on the older models anyway :)

I may get Fiat to check it out when I bring it up to them. Its under warranty so I might get them to check it and see what they think. I bought it from Windsor in Cork but they sent it up to Raheny for me to check out before I paid for it. They also knew nothing about the car itself. I had to hunt them to find out what warranty was still left on it. Demo model..no previous owner really. Gear change is smooth but its got a nice notchy gearbox.

Waiting for Stilo prices to go down over here might not happen for a long time and most Stilos in Ireland don't have great spec. I'm pretty sure you won't find a single Stilo in Ireland with sat nav!

You should bring it up as soon as possible, you don't want to be driving through town and suddenly lose all your gears! So is it on a cork reg?

I needed a bigger car to carry all my gear, it was a choice between golf 6 speed se estate and stilo jtd estate, the prices of the golfs on ebay were a good 1.5k more than the stilo, and they were older, so in the end got a silver faultywagon for 4600k (from a dealer) , 86 miles but fsh, and leather, and climate control, and panoramic top, and slidy seats, and 17" alloys (bit scuffed) but the car has been brilliant, done 500 miles in a week, not a bit of trouble, mate at work has golf sdi (non-turbo), sounds like a tractor compared to my stilo, and I get 50 mpg, anyway the money I saved will pay for extended warranty, the golf looks a bit bland in my opinion

Meant to ask when i saw you earlier, any luck with getting a better price on them alloys?

Check this one out, exhaust looks cool, even though i'm not a fan of knacker exhausts.

Michael Barrables in Airside could beat the price by 100eur but that was with the cheapest tyres and I think the other guy gave price for decent tyres. Looked at the ad and it looks nice but yeah I don't like the exhaust and none of that kit is abarth as he says. They were originally the wheels I wanted though and the guy told me they're not real Fiat wheels???

Hi all. I'm changing car before the summer and having done a lot of thinking i'm stuck between getting a 03 stilo or a 01 golf (about two grand more). The styling of the stilo appeals to me a lot as does the extras you get for the money. The golf is ok to look at but is a stronger more reliable car with much higher residual values, it would still be worth what the stilo is now in two years time! I'm looking at the 1.2 16v 3 door (not touching a 5 door) in the stilo (the 1.6 isn't available for that year over here it would seem) or a 1.4 golf. The golf has more torque but a lower power to weight ratio(about 14percent less) and doesn't have that six speed box for the motorway. I don't know what to do! Any opinions?

would go for the stilo. they are a bit rarer than a golf and a whole lot better looking. any way volkswagens are not as bullet proof as they would have you believe.

They definately are, they were on the newer stilos i believe. A set of them just sold on another forum there, I would've told you about them if i knew you were looking for that style.
