Perhaps manageable for someone of considerable experience but I'd not be encouraging an amateur DIYer to try this? There are many things in the garage environment which can hurt. However there are two things which really "frighten" me - Suspension springs and welding gas bottles - both demand large helpings of respect! Approached with due diligence they are fine but if abused they can turn and bit you nastily!

I changed the front strut's on Mrs Dave's Panda with ratchet straps. Tie down the springs before loosening the shock end nuts. That's big inner nut not the top one that locks it together and holds the retaining disc.

welding gas bottles - demand large helpings of respect!

I looked at getting myself an oxy-acetylene setup. Then I checked the effect on my house insurance. Not to mention the costs of renting gas bottles. So that's why folks use plasma cutters and MIG welders.
