No probs Ming. At least when the caliper's out it will be easier to work on. I take it, it's a bendix type of adjustment integral to the main piston? Have you got the adjusting part back all the way? and is it just the piston that won't go back into the caliper bore? If that's the case it's either hydraulically locked or the piston/bore are mis-aligned.

Took it to Rallycinq's place today .. we got the old nipple out but not possible to tap the thread back on :( ...... So Is new claiper time! We try easy out but no luck with it :(

We got the piston back in alright .. but the nipple messed things up!

Maybe all is not lost..We could drill and tap to a bigger size..from M8 fine to M9 or M10. Just need to find who uses the bigger sizes, should'nt be to difficult.

I also have had limited success with easy out's.

As said Ming, I really appreciate you and David trying. Shame it was the nipple that ended up fouling things up though I swear some of the metals they use on these cars are designed to be weaker than they should be :/

If a new caliper's the way to go then as said I'll just bite the bullet and go with it.

Let's just hope that the caliper gets to Ming's very soon, so RGZ can make it to St Andrews, if not then Rob, I'm prepared to head to St Andrews late evening i.e. I could pickyou up from your work, but hopefully we won't need to do that.

If you & Ming can let me know by Friday at the latest please, so I know wether to head up late or head up earlyer in the day.

As just mentioned on FB, the Stilo brakes once more

As also said on FB, Ming you are a legend. Of course the brilliant timing of the caliper helped somewhat, but I'm so glad you managed to get it done and sorted. Such a weight off my mind :)

And cheers again Andi for the help last weekend, the lift and of course the offer of the lift to St A, which I now don't need :)

Now, onto the rest of that list...

Haven't decided really

Ming agrees with Ally saying it doesn't really need the HG done. So may well just get it serviced for now and do the trackrod ends at some point. After that, the TB maybe needs a good clean to sort a small rev issue and the exhaust needs repositioning perhaps along with the gasket getting replaced. All small jobs though :)

Then after that I may start the modding again

Aye get RGZ mechanically sorted first, then mod away to your budget, which being in retail is NIL

Well, pondering if the brake issues aren't quite behind me. Had heard an intermittent squeal that went away under braking from about a week or so after St Andrews. Jacked the car up just there to check how all the wheels rotated and to a great extent, they seemed fine.

However, it seems with all of them that the pads rub the discs BUT they move pretty much freely bar the OS one, which seems to be rubbing noticeably more than the others. Not sure if they just need some adjusting or something similar - haven't had any major braking moments since Ming changed the rears. May need to call upon his services again to have a look, if that's alright Ming ;)

Other than that, the exhaust blow sounds like it's getting worse. Really need to get it jacked up, scrape off all the exhaust gum gunk and use the gasket I got a while back. Looks a tad rusted though, so not sure how good the fit will be :/

Also, sounds like water's getting trapped in the tailgate somewhere, so perhaps need to dismantle the trim and such to see if there's a water drainage point that's blocked or something.

All fun and games as usual

for the squeal, jack up, wheel off and have a look at the stone guard behind the disc

had a horrendous squeal on the honda that would randomly dissapear in certain corners or bumps, turned out to be the guard had got bent and was contacting the disc as it rotated, if its an occasional one it could be something similar.

i had it jacked up before and all seemed fine and didnt squeak but when the car waas on the deck it immediatley started again

Had thought that, but think the stone guards are fine (would still double check of course, as know what you mean). Was thinking it was braking due to it stopping when actually pushing the pedal down. Also, when I did the whole wheel rotating thing, it was only the OS rear that was catching to any great degree, though with the rest I could hear them all rubbing to a very small extent.
