Hi,

I've had an issue for a while with my rear right cluster, every time i put the brakes on i'd get an indicator light blown error which would disappear as soon as it had arrived. Decided to have a look inside today and found that the circuit is fairly rusted (see pics)

My question is, if it were to chop out the rusted parts (not the bulb socket ill clean that up) and solder in some new wire is the CAN system going to throw a wobbly? I can't see why it would as the resistances shouldn't change enough as its essentially just replacing a wire with a wire.

Also is there any particular wire i should use (sounds stupid but just checking)

Thanks in advance (y)

Try some electrical contact cleaner and some wire wool first. Its just surface rust, there's good metal underneath. Also, you need to fix the seal, water is obviously getting in.

I'll have a look at whats under the rust then, yeah going to make a new seal while Im at it. Trying to avoid a new cluster really, attempting a cheap month!

Thanks a lot
