Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Read the thread it says, 257mm diameter by 20mm thick with a 98mm nut hole spacing. Same discs as used on barchettas, some bigger engined/diesel bravos, tempras, mareas etc.

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

I think mine saved my life this morning, had a car decide to overtake with me oncoming, so stood it on its nose, I now have two marks on my shoulders were my harnesses bit, they were tight, but wow those brakes sure pack some power.

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Brakes – look again at the Trofeo rally car spec. Ventilated Uno Turbo front discs and solid rear discs were used. With this thickness of disc, the Uno turbo calipers can be used, although brackets to mount the caliper are different. The Uno Turbo’s brake set up works well. Kits are available. Four pot systems tend to need more fluid to operate, and therefore pedal travel is much further. Steel braided brake hoses are also advisable – as they will retain a more consistent feel and pedal pressure during their life.

As an aside, in Emma's pics you can clearly see the standard Fiat 10mm spacers and stud conversion as supplied with Sei Abarth wheels as I know many people ask about these.

Aaron.

Can I be nosey and ask how much for these?

Looking at the eper it lookes like fortunes £50+ please tell me it's not:cry:

Fraid not too mate. A pressure that is applied at a point of a liquid, is equally delivered to the rest of the liquid. That's the Pascal's principle.

Whoops. Youre right. My bad :)

That post taught me more about hydraulics than the last 2 months at university has!

Hmm...so if I were to match 4-pot calipers with 257mm vented discs (rather than the planned 240mm vented....hmm

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Well another Punto GT brake convert:cool: . Is 99% done but reckon I need to re-bleed the brakes as I only have half brake power with the pedal pushed quite easily to the floor and I’ll have some proper brakes at last(y).
Hopefully give some feedback once I get then working right. Bit of a pain in the ass to do but got it sorted.
Biggest problem was fitting the removing and fitting the new brake lines and smacking the backplate out of the way.

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Ok brakes I think are done, rebled them so theres nowt air and they are a little better.
They seem a little unresponsive at first with the pedal going about a third of the way down quite easily before things start to happen but I guess this is because the master cylinder needs to feed more fluid into the bigger pistons?
Once the brakes are applied properly and not just traffic management tapping they seem allot more purposeful.
Don't want to smash the pedal to see what they can really do as I want a 500 mile bed-in before I can see what they really do but they do give a nice jerk stop compared to the slow down rumbler before.
Is it possible/easy to exchange the master cyclinders for bigger ones to match the caliper piston increase?

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Yup goodridge s.s but only did the fronts.

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Deffinately considering this now...

Can I fit the Punto GT calipers on my 2001 Sei?

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

I just had visions of them (fiat) being really gay and changing the mounts etc because its an MPi. But obviously not, and I have an abarth so ive already got 14" wheels.
