Went to the factors with a caliper to get the right pads today and after opening four boxes we came across the correct ones, the calipers are Girling but it's Lucas pads which fit in them! Very baffling indeed.

lol i had the same,IIRC bendix caliper with ATE pattern.
think the problem doesnt happen with the puntos as its done by year or so i would assume

I would recommend that anyone sourcing calipers should get one pad too so they can take that easier into the factors rather than the caliper.
It's no use trying to describe the shape cos there is 3 different pads with lugs on the ends but they are all different.

Would Uno Turbo calipers fit straight onto a Cinq? Or is the bracket different?

need a 3mm spacer machined down to go inside the discs between the disc and the hub, but other than that its a direct fit (mine waiting to go on )

Cool. Obviously I'd need pads for an Uno Turbo yes? But do I need larger discs too?

Since your are adopting the Uno turbo caliper you are basically changing the whole front setup so yes caliper, discs and pads all for an Uno Turbo.
I have spacers which could be machined to fit this set up.

i've a spare pair of uno turbo calipers, although arc does have first refusal on them, i'll be fitting my setup after re-moting the car as at mo fronts are fine for mot so dont want to upset stuff for mot

How much you want for them? If arc doesn't want them I'll have them straight away I'm fed up with my crappy brakes and want to sort them out ASAP.

just to say you would probably find a fully set up standard brake set up with uprated discs and pads would be a huge leap for you.up to you though

well if oyu say your brakes are really poor. i have a non turbo cinq as well and the brakes are fine on that with new discs pads and the rear brakes fully adjusted.
now the turbo cinq brakes are another saga

right a bit advice for peeps doing this.
if your rear shoes are worn then replace these at the same time.it seems from my (nightmare)experience that you need the rears tight on the drum to provide resistence to fully blled the system.
in my case i had a snapped brake pipe so you may get away with it if just swapping calipers but if oyu cant bleed the system then look to the rears.

No you do not remove the hubs to fit brake calipers on the front, you retain the Cinq/Sei ones.
And the brake pipes fit but always a worth while investment in s/s ones plus renew all fluid, then bleed brakes in sequence to ensure to air and new fluid all round.
