yeah, i've often thought about getting those fitted ;)

it would be interesting what would happen should a vandal be torched.....just how did he catch fire?

hmmm, spontanious human combustion? :D the lightning finger of god? :D :D

has to have been a pre meditated attack, they went at the mirror with a screwdriver or similar, so could see the scratch marks in the housing where it was inserted :(

on the plus side thats the only physical damage that was done and its all hidden behind the glass, but im not sure the motor is quite working right now as the adjustment doesnt go out the way, only up, down and in from the interior switch.

oh, and i forgot to mention i now know it has the loudest car alarm ever known to man. it went off and possibly stopped further damage...apart from maybe to their ears. :)

it sounded about 5 feet away from me when i was in the back room, the car was not only at ground level, and im about 35 ft up, but it was also across the road on another street due to parking congestion, so it was a good 80ft away from the house, and about 100ft away from where i was at the time

so if anyone is reading this who happens to work at ninewells hospital, and they had any wee scumbag neds come in with ringing ears/burst eardrums, please let me know (y)

Been trying to shop for some bits, buut a weird phenomenon is happening.....

top of my shopping list is the rear lights, the current ones, for want of a better phrase, are doing my fu**in nut in!!!, chromed lexus chav lights...if my car HAS to be vandalised, please vandalise those, pretty please! i'll even pay! ;)

well, the weird phenomenon is the disapearance of standard rear light sellers

my first port of call was the scrappy, only the car has 3 cars on top of it, and i need the boot opened, not possible, so they are out.

second port of call was an ad, i asked if they were still for sale, no reply

moved onto the third port of call, owners club, 2 sets available on there, great, asked about them. both sellers have since dissapeared. LOL

tried a few breaking ads over the past 3 days, not ONE reply!

where is everybody, do they immediatley drop dead when i ask about standard calibra rear lights? hahaha

theres now a set on ebay with zero description, no photos and teh seller wont give any details if they are even standard lights! believe me ive asked, so i dont want to buy them incase they turn out to be lexarse lights

yeah, been looking through them, most of them are only selling one at a time. ive contacted a couple of them asking if they'd sell the pair and they said they would, but theyd still charge the same postage for two, so alot of the time im looking at nearly £20 postage and packing on top of what the lights cost, usualy £10-15 each.

whilst £40 still isnt too bad for a set of lights, taking £20 for postage just feels like a slight rip off :( im actually thinking seeing as my mate gets staff discounts at arnolds on all parts, it might be nearly as cheap for a brand new set straight from vauxhall! lol

i was down there and had an argument with a parts guy the other day funilly enough, arnold clark vauxhall are as much a pile of cocks as arnold clark fiat. nothing positive to say about them. never had a good experience there tbh, but if its a source of cheap bits, then i'll keep my hatred towards the company in general quiet ;)

thats now twice in 5 days its been vandalised, same part, passenger side miror, only this time they've done the job with the screwdriver properly and wrenched the glass's mountings off the motor and breaking where it all connects together. rendering the part useless and needing replaced :(

i have 3 suspects, one is a good distance away from the rest at the top of the list seeing as he had a pathetic, childish motive and also the opportunity

oh well, i guess i'll just need to get a camera on it and wait for him to do it again, then we'll see how he likes getting his motor bashed in :tosser:

get on a nice balaclava and bash him in instead? :D
Once you know it was him ofc

What about a custom car wash?

Not that I'd recommend that, of course :surprised:..

LOL

well if i get proof its him, i'll be repaying him for every bit of damage he's done to all the cars i've had parked outside in the past

but first of all, we'll up the ante and i'll be making a point of letting him know the car is being watched by camera 24/7 and the person whos doing the damage will be answering a few questions. that'll either put the wind up him thinking he may have been rumbled and reported, or if he's got any guilt, he could take it as a threat. if he has nothing to hide, he's got nothing to worry about, its very simple :)

if i catch him at it again, there will be consequences ;)

and i can be quite creative when it comes to what consequences he faces.....total electrical failure on a french car would be ever so unfortunate and so unlike one too..... :D

Best bit, of course, being you don't need to tamper with the car for that to happen. On french cars it's standards innit?:idea3:

Not true, my mate's Pug has rock solid electrics. He'll probably be relaying this to me when I help him replace the recently expired power steering pump - basically the only things that've went wrong with it are mechanical and he thrashes the arse off it. Year 2000 car with 140k miles on it and though it's entirely made of rust and looks like it's been shot by 100 golf balls, it still drives like a proper go kart :D

there are always exceptions to the rule ;)

its a year 2000 and its rusting to death?

tbh, pugs don't normally rust too badly after 1993ish, i dont think i've seen many die of rust, the 205 was the last rust prone pug i know of, and even then you could fix it in 5 minutes with a penknife and a ball of string ;)

the only pugs after 98 i have seen die of rust have been accident damaged, poorly/cheaply repaired jobs.

It's just when you open the bonnet that you see all the rust. None of it's structural, but it's just everything's covered in it. Even the K&N kit he's got on it's got patches on it. Looked at the underside near the back when I was helping sort his brakes out and there was a fair amount back there too. Arches aren't too bad apart from some flaking paint - no actual rust showing through on the body work.

As I said though, the body work itself is dented to feck. I guess though the good thing about a 106 is there's never any shortage of them at the scrappies, certainly compared with Stilo's, they're common place. Just the paint matches that always seem to screw it up for my mate as I think it was between different versions of the phase 2 106, so certain things like colour codes were being phased in and out.

Had a couple of goes in it though and it was great fun. Short shift gearbox, lowered on Eibachs and Bilsteins and an E-Tech strutbrace up front. Together with the 15" 306 GTi wheels and Falkens, it really does handle. Makes me ponder getting a 106 GTi, but the Japanese motoring fraternity are calling to me :D

another turning to the jap side with me :D if you wanna play with the handling come have a shotty :D i just got some good year eagles on the rears so thats my wheels with new tyres on it and it feels much more stable now

oh MrC theres a calibra same as yours around the corner of rosebank street with wolfrace katanas on it with standard rear lights trade him for you lexarse ones :)

Tell me about it, though my bank's very happy given the interest I pay on my overdraft

ok the slightly funny starting in the recent bad weather, i think i may have a connected fault.

on the dual carriageway, if i floor it in third for example, the power deliverly feels slightly off. it seems to be fluctuating so im getting little surges of acceleration, losing power, acceleration, losing power, and never quite feels like its hitting 100% in its little surges. this happens constantly and has only happened since the downpour last week.

so thinking about it, list of possibilities, crank sensor (would also perhaps explain the starting problem), air filter, fuel filter? perhaps a wee blast of redex to see if that helps clear things up?

i cant really say if matters are better or worse, i've driven once in about 5 days because i've been off with the Flu, generally feeling like i've been hit by a truck most of the time, im almost over it now so i've got a bit of time to look into it finaly :)

have you looked in the end of the leads for water?

Rear lights arrived today :D finally i can take a hammer to the chav ones! (or sell them on ebay and make 3 times as much as i paid for the standard rear lights) (y)

hopefully in the next 20 minutes or so, i'll also have an HID kit, and by tomorrow, an in dash dvd player and digital tv setup to add to the Calibra list :D
