in the last week, i've had the mirror kicked off for a second time and all 4 tyres let down. not punctured, just removed the dustcaps, pressed the valves and replaced the dustcaps again...which was nice of them.

seriously wondering why im even bothering now tbh :(

That will help if not prevent the tyres getting let down.

Mirror?? Errrm don't know bout that 1.

Cheers,

i had them on the black seicento...they got stolen!. they work with a little pin in the thread you screw in to tighten it up. they dont lock, just get really tricky to remove, but if you get a good enough grip theyre quite easy to take off like a normal dustcap.

id be worried if they couldnt get them off and they were determined to give me a flat set of tyres, they'd just put a nail through the sidewalls or something though :(

today, the car was untouched, and i havent even driven it for 2 days!. hopefully that'll be the end of the vandalisim for a bit. a couple of days ago i was one attack away from selling the car.

still, its technically not been a great day for the calibra, its developed a much nicer exhaust note because of a hole somewhere near the backbox. not bothered because it sounds good! :D also not bothered for mot time because its still 4 months away and i'm away to get the stainless steel one off the cali in the scrapyard i got the window off :) looks much nicer that the standard system and will be alot cheaper than buying a new backbox :)

...those are the ones I have and I've seen finger prints around the alloys where people have tried to nick them and failed

I had a set of Abarth ones with the grub screw, similar to the ones Andi linked to. They kept getting nicked, so replaced them with the Richbrook ones. Got a spare set from the scrappie too just in case any go walk about or I need to clean them up :)

Sucks what's happening to your car though. I thought Paisley was bad for car vandalism :(

now theres a shout, i didnt think of scotchloks to get a take off from that brown wire!!! :D

i'll have a look and see if theres enough room somewhere to attatch one :D

could well be a goer!

i now have hid-age! :D

had a poke around with the lights yesterday afternoon, traced all the various points where i could get a tap off the negative wire and found out that EVERY, and i mean EVERY Calibra forum or owner who has ever written a guide on how to fit HID's to a calibra is wrong. there is no need for soldering, crimping, cutting terminals etc as said. the ground wire goes to 2 points on the light, every forum reccomeds either tapping into the wire or removing it from the second bullet terminal and removing the spade connector so you can either A)stuff the black wire into the bullet on the cars wiring, or B) fitting a new bullet that you can connect to the old bullet connector.

everyones missed something very obvious! LMAO!, where the brown ground wire comes out to the side of the bulb, theres a little copper connector that attatches the ground wire to the light itself so it can take the draw from the bulb. as this isnt getting used on an hid (hence the need to tap into the wire), you can just bend the spade connector to a slight curve and wedge it in between the copper connector and bulb holder. wire tapped, job done :)

so much for it supposedly being half an hour per light, once id fathomed that out, i had the kit fitted on both sides in under 10 minutes :D

the difference is just phenomenal in terms of lighting performance, to put it into perspective just how appaling the standard lights are, i measured last week the light beam only stretched 7ft on the ground from the car and if you stood 20 foot in front of the car it would barely light up your trousers., now with the hid's the light beam stretches about 25-30ft on the ground and projects the light so much further that even at 50ft away from the car in the dark, your trousers are still luminously bright, lol

next mod possibly planned is to de-grill, im not sure tbh, i cant decide if it looks better or not, heres a photo mock up...thoughts?

minusv.jpg

i ripped off the plastic honeycombe mesh behind the v grill a few days ago to get more cold air into the engine bay, and on doing that i've developed and induction noise without an induction kit :) the car feels noticeably sharper at low revs too, i wouldnt say it had gained power, just a better throttle response, maybe that would change with better induction marginally.

future jobs, exhaust will need done, just need to get teh stainless steel one off the cali in the scrappy, and im away to but some braided brake hoses because i have a ballooning brake hose as is making the brakes feel mushy right now, not nice.

think that just about covers the updates at the moment :D

latest update, today was the hottest day i've driven the calibra, and it didnt feel a happy car at all

it felt down on power quite badly, it felt like a good 35bhp suddenly went missing, hard to say, but the clutch doesnt feel quite right now either. the biting point feels wrong and its starting to feel like theres a tiny slip for a brief moment when you release it. release it too sharply and the car judders three or 4 times aswell now, something tells me its on its way out. still has a couple of thousand miles in it for sure, but a clutch change is looking like its going to need to be budgeted for :(

toying with the idea of getting the timing belt done soon too, just because.....

hmm, all that work to be done or part ex for a Mk2 Mr2........big decision to be made i think!
