Project Cinq!

Cool cool mate. I will try and have it removed on Friday. Let's hope the weather stay put!

Man that means i need to have my tracking / camber done again lol.

Should defo try and get it before the meet so u could come down!!

Let me know if you want it picked up or sent ? IF pick up i could just take cash in hand, if sent then £80 to paypal via gift option? I'll try and post some pictures up. Cosmetically, they are not the best but they do the job really well.

bring the car down change it at mines ;) then set off for sat :)

Seeing the sei is in the air, take the suspension off that?

Let me know mate, if you don;t need them urgent i would prefer not to touch it till after the meet. As tracking and camber adjustment is expensive :(

was gonna do the suspension from the sei but it may be just a bit big and bouncy for that cinq :D

yeah but i dont think the ride would be that good on the bilstein shocks and standard springs :)

btw, car looks higher in that pic because the handbrake was on and it had been jacked up, car sinks a bit when handbrake gets released. its a 50mm drop though.

Ming, will let you know for certain whats what tonight. the cinq will be in my lockup as of tomorrow anyway so it's not 100% urgent if im not going to the meet and if i dont need my lockup for a while....... im not sure if thats the case though lol

btw, what do people think of the sill damage? pretty bad but i think the pics make it look worse than it really is, and the bit underneath makes the upper sill look worse too

anyway, think it'll be able to be pulled out and battered back into shape? think i might have a go at the bottom "seam" bit, but i'll get a pro to pull the top bit out if it's do-able.....either that or i could get some rather nifty steel kickplates for the sills made up ;) lol

looks a bit lower with the handbrake off and a slightly full boot :p

WINNING!!

well, sort of. not really an update on the car but it is related.

put in a complaint to the council about the state of the compound from ruts and potholes that contributed to the cinq snapping a spring. well, they have been up, clearly agreed the particular area where it happened was a state (given our councils standards, that shows how bad it was) and they have tarmac'd the entrance so that issue is gone.

clearly thats an admission of guilt?

still no word on compensation. its a long shot but if it was bad enough to do that tyhen clearly i have a case!

heard back from the council, basicly telling me to do one and there was no problems in the area. rather bizzare then they have wasted money repairing such a big area for no reason. time to bring out the big guns....... certain extracts from my reply

I would like to ask Mr Thomson the following question. If there were no serious pot holes in the area, why has it been covered in tarmac? surely in such an economic climate where council budgets are seriously stretched, it would be a complete waste of tax payers money to frivolously resurface large areas when there is no need to.

secondly, such a sweeping statement regarding potential damage to vehicles is completely ill informed due to the fact all cars are different and therefore suffer different degrees of damage. To make such an assesment, several factors would need to be considered for example, vehicle size and weight, wheel size, tyre depth, tyre width, vehicle ride height and suspension travel.

please find attached a picture of the damaged spring. i have highlighted both the area where the spring has snapped and colapsed over the shock absorber and also the area where upon the colapse, the spring has taken a chunk out of the seat base of the shock absorber. please also note the spring is no longer seated correctly and is coil bound due to the snappage and also the clean metal in the gouge from the shock absorber seat base showing this not only to be a very recent occurance but also that the vehicle has covered zero distance since the damage occured. The vehicle was up on ramps for MOT purposes as well as another occasion for a small drivetrain repair not very long beforehand and on both occasions the vehicles suspension was found to be in near perfect condition.

If the councils stance is to be defensive, i will have no qualms in seeking legal advice where as you would be aware, any legal representative worth their salt would interprate all the evidence and recent reperation on your part to suggest an act of guilt and cover up.

Typical local govt..keep up the fight!

indeed :) i think i've got them rattled slightly now given the tone of the reply i eventually got, so just need to keep asking questions they don't want asked to ruffle a few more feathers

they are in a corner now though, they either have to admit they repaired the area because it was badly damaged or they have wasted tax payers money for no reason.
