nothing we can do when theres bugger all anywhere to work on them now :( can't really legislate for garages getting wrecked by hurricane force winds

i was even up there ridiculously today despite the conditions, damn near got wiped out by a bit of garage roof for my troubles

from what i can see all i need is one day to fix all the little leftover issues and mot test but its 1 day s i just dont have at the moment would have been doen ages ago but this weather has really stumped every plan for the last 3-4 weekends

just been up to inspect the damage, my garage has been cordoned off, had a peek under the door though, everythings intact apart from the fact the roofs not really part of the garage anymore

took a few pics.....

roof panels, big and alot heavier than they look!, had a very, very narrow escape with one of them missing me by millimeters

so yeah, was quite breezy

it was running perfectly before the timing belt snapped though, i'm not really sure why the sensor would die because of the belt

im just going by the fact theres zero change in engine running when two plugs are taken off leads me to think 2 plugs are totally sooted up, they are sparking fine via the coil and end of the leads and were perfect before the belt snap too, that leads me to it being a physical issue like the plugs

if the two on one coil arent working but theres spark going two them, after the belt snapping given they are on the same spark cycle, they may just be the unlucky ones to have got a dump of fuel that never burnt off cleanly

might aswell just check all the things that are there atm before i replace random parts :)

had thought of crank though, initially thought timing or the pulley nipple not being locked onto the crank properly giving a weird signal, took out crank sensor and cleaned today after checking timing and re-tensioning belt yesterday....no change.

oddly, it was struggling to start and stay alive today, it would start with a hard rev but cut out on return to idle, after a few revs held, it never cut out again for the rest of the attempts, maybe that adds to the theory of plugs if they burnt some soot off with the revs? i'll find out i suppose when i remove them :)

i think we still have the spare crank sensor lying around to try so we could it on it and we could stick the plugs and leads from mine for another test stage :D

i'll have a look at the plugs tomorrow and take it from there

if the plugs are fairly sooty, chances are the lambda is coated too, given the fact a carboard box behind the cinqs exhaust is covered in black soot from the test firing yesterday, i guess im getting near the root of the problems :)

Give the crack sensor a go , When mine went , it was half way up the motor way and i had to keep it nailed to say running and every now and then it would POP back up the carb ..

if it dosnt work Give me the car :D and ill fix it and keep it

It might be worthwhile doing a compression test on the offending cylinders, you may have a bent valve or two? At what rev's did the belt snap?

valves shouldn't be bent, it's a non interfereance engine and afaik it's not been skimmed down to the minimum markers on the head, belt snapped on a steep hill near the top changing into second, got onto the road in first, accelerated gently, clutch down into second, brought clutch up and the belt went bang, so probably not very high revs, 2.5k?

cant rule it out though

if it is that the engines coming out for an upgrade :D

james, if you want the cinq make me a proper offer ;) been thinking of selling with the garage situation (break ins, council issues etc) as is, im wanting rid of the garage but i've nowehere to keep two cars
