Technical Problem selecting gears JTD

Came back from a 70 mile run everything working perfectly, went to go for a short drive and was struggling to select any gear. The car will engage gears but with force and a heavy clunk from the gear box.

Would like to figure out what has caused this to happen

Clutch. The Punto clutches are designed to fail sticking rather than fail slipping (a sort of get-you-home measure). Therefore, the resistance you feel is because the drivetrain hasn't quite disconnected from the engine properly.

Mine did the same - new clutch needed.
