Regarding regeneration temperatures the average temp reading does not show peak temperature so isn't helpful in deciding to update software. Get software updated.

Agree, average is not the same as peak. How far off it is depends on the start and stop criteria for the sampling that the averaging is based on, and I think we don't know that (?). However, my interest in what is a normal value was only meant as a rough indicator (of several) on the current state for my van and not as a decision aid for software upgrade.

Regarding upgrade my first attempt resulted in a similar disappointment to what others have reported in this forum. I phoned a reputable Fiat Pro workshop and thought, optimistically, that they had a list or something that would enable them to say what sw version a 2018 2.3/150 with Comfortmatic and chassis no xxx should have, but the response was: "it depends what sw version you have today and what the computer tells us when we connect it to your car". I said that I already know that it has version 24 and also that I know there are are newer versions available for this model. But we didn't get much further, they persisted that they "must connect to the OBD in order to see if there are any applicable upgrades for the particular car. You can not draw any conclusions from what you have heard from others with similar cars". So they did not agree to my presumption that the new version (32) should be the best for all 2018 2,3/150 with Comfortmatic. Visiting them would mean a 200 km round trip and I would like better odds for the outcome before doing it. Hence my next step is to contact a less sophisticated workshop closer to home, hoping that they are more flexible.

Bellow is the only example iv'e got of this precise graph. the DPF temperatues durring a regen. There is a way to capture it when it happens but is not very predictable. This example may not be too typical as it was interupted by stoping in a layby saving the data starting a new file and going again (the engine was not stopped) i was unaware a regen was happenning. Could the max actually get upto 700C, 690 at least in your case

Certainly starting to look electrical. Got it booked in with a Fiat place on Monday.

Whilst you are working in that zone, there have been other owners with electrical faults because the wiring harness is clipped somewhere at the bottom of the diesel filter and wires have been chafed through.

Had a poke about, reseated the ECU connectors and now I've got another fault 🤣 does this seem loom related to you, because under normal circumstances, this isn't...well....normal. Van pulls well right up until the fault kicks in. Made it up a very steep hill with me revving the dogs nuts out of it, which doesn't sound typical of most of the po236/238 errors most people report.

Also, worth noting, on one run last week, the ASR warning was on but buggered off after

@Gravelrash , my thoughts? Chafed wire giving either a short or broken wire.
Have you installed a second earth wire (engine to bulkhead)?

Yeah, my thoughts as well. Not a lot I can do personally, got my arm in a sling - done my rotator cuff in. No second earth wire yet, only had it 6 weeks or so. Too used to my Trafic, other than a recon gearbox, it kept going without a fault for five years. It's going into a van and commercial workshop first thing Monday.

Reading up, did hear the ABS controllers can generate gremlins as well.

@Gravelrash there's always the quick fix of jump starter cable. Memory is there is an earth post on the centre bulkhead near the vacuum reservoir. Then just go for an engine bracket or gearbox Mount bracket.

Mes-fluid leak or seal failure , I think that's a typo and should not have "fluid" in description

It could be seeing an abnormally high reading from the maf sensor for a low inlet pressure reading and calculating inlet air blowing out somewhere - if egr opens at wrong time(or stuck open) the turbo pushes the inlet air straight through egr valve and out exhaust , this drops the inlet manifold pressure but increases maf reading. Split inlet hose similar or intercooler leak.

I've monitored (but not logged) all 30+ regens on my 27,000 mile twin EGR model thus far and high 600s are indeed commonplace. Yesterday's regen peaked at 690 but I've seen 725 degrees briefly before now. V28 manual, squeaky clean exhaust.

Thanks Steve, usefull to know but ive always had "show me the data " ringing in my years. If you could log a few examples id be happy as a pig in . 27,000 mile 30-40 regens =700-900 mile between regens , the highest ive heard of, interesting info adds to the knowledge base, thanks again.

Ps can the kapron ap be set to log such that it logs data when turned on, ie with little/ no effeort (my vgate BT is permamnetly atached)

Sorry my bad, that should of course be 60+ and not 30+. 500 miles on a fast run, 400 or so tootling about.

Sadly the logging of regens in the Kapron app doesn't amount to much, just averages of the last 5 regens. It's a shame that AlfaOBD doesn't do logging (perhaps it does?) as it's much easier to run that on a tablet/phone than having a laptop in the cab.

Alfaobd does logging but Not as easy as MES. I kept making mistakes and either ended up with data i couldnt use or none at all. found it easier to to use MES but i have this habit of starting logging but at end of journey or at a stop just turn engine off and loose all the data nothing saved. is there a setting in MES that saves data periodicaly or with ALfa obd.
