Technical Petrol pump removal

Bad news it wasn't the petrol pump any ideas what my next step is

Resistance value

Full tank 33±3 Ohm

3/4 76±3 Ohm

1/2 134±3 Ohm

1/4 206±3 Ohm

Reserve 235±3 Ohm

Empty 299±3 Ohm

Ohms or if the MM is autoranging then you don’t have to set it if not try one of the ohms settings until you get a reading.

Post a picture of the multimeter so we know what we are dealing with it's likely to be marked 2K or 2000, ohms or Ω

Just a cheap one

Dial to the yellow arrow

Black and read leads where indicated

Touch the two probes together should read zero or very close

Thanks koaler and when I'm testing the pump /float where does the other end probes go there are 4 points where the block feeds into

Maybe try this also :

With the spare pump unit on your lap.. Slowly move the flat through it's arc of movement..

Nice and smooth?

Now plug it into the cars loom,

Turn on ignition

Move Float slowly, see what the Fuel Gauge Display is reading

Does it hit FULL early..?

Morning mate did the test yesterday and the old pump/sender is working fine as you said they rarely fail something like 40 20 empty so in summary the old pump and the new pump are giving exactly the same readings to the petrol gauge. Do I go back to the tank to make sure the float isn't catching on anything because I put it back in the exact place it was originally in there isn't much scope for rotating it as the fuel pipe hasn't got a lot of play or do I start looking elsewhere thanks once again for your help

I haven't tested that but when I turn the ignition on the needle does rise slowly up to 1/4 then stays there until the petrol starts dropping then the needle starts dropping. The actual pump sender is fine and working correctly

Koaler does the petrol pump have a certain way it has to go back in I'm asking incase I've inserted it wrong and the float is catching on something

Only fits one way, and will not seat properly if rotated
