Ohms or if the MM is autoranging then you don’t have to set it if not try one of the ohms settings until you get a reading. What position do I set the multimeter to I'm a complete novice

Thank you I will reply tomorrow with results (if any)
Morning mate did the test yesterday and the old pump/sender is working fine as you said they rarely fail something like 40 20 empty so in summary the old pump and the new pump are giving exactly the same readings to the petrol gauge. Do I go back to the tank to make sure the float isn't catching on anything because I put it back in the exact place it was originally in there isn't much scope for rotating it as the fuel pipe hasn't got a lot of play or do I start looking elsewhere thanks once again for your helpThank you I will reply tomorrow with results (if any)
And moves slowly in time to moving the float..?It never goes past between 1/4 and3/8 mate
I haven't tested that but when I turn the ignition on the needle does rise slowly up to 1/4 then stays there until the petrol starts dropping then the needle starts dropping. The actual pump sender is fine and working correctlyAnd moves slowly in time to moving the float..?
