Ive been a member of this forum a fair time and never posted, so firstly hi everyone 👋
Currently trying to remove the gearbox to replace the clutch.. on the engine side of the gearbox I believe I need to remove 1x engine/gearbox bolt which I've done and presumably the 13mm bolt for the starter?

My thanks in advance for any help.. I know there is meant to be a guide to this in downloads.. but I couldn't find it using search?
Thanks again 👍👍👍

There's different ways of tackling the job especially around the gearbox drive shafts

Yes I know it's a 500

The starter has a bolt from either side and slips out, you can leave it connected just tie it out of the way

But its shot slightly better than the panda one, there identical except the 500 has a few extra pieces that can be ignored

I use a beam and straps,.it's a.bit.of.a.maul

Pop the cables off the ball joins several people have had trouble by undoing bits that shouldn't have been undone on the gear selector

I do it both ways in remove the drive shaft from the gearbox or split the driveshaft at the inner joint, it depends if I am changing the gearbox oil at the same time as the latter dose not require draining

Talking of which it's worth changing the three oil seals, cheap and testing the input bearing for play unless they been done recently

Thanks a lot for the reply Koalar.. I'll watch that video shortly..
I had based gearbox removal on an Italian YouTube video.. and i don't know many words in Italian 😹

I'm sure there's just that 13mm engine side starter bolt that's holding it in place . I'd missed it unfortunately.. looks like I'm going need a 1/2' socket to get it though, as 13mm is way too loose a fit..

Pretty sure oil seals haven't been done before.. thanks for the advice 👍
I like the beam with the strap approach to holding the gearbox .. off to find some 2 x 3 !

Thanks again 👍👍👍

There's definitely should be two when it left the factory

One from each side

As seen here,.one hole is threaded the other clerance

Once there removed it wiggles.out, might need a central tap

You can leave the electrical connectors on

I can't remember what I use to undo the front it's awkward to get a socket to sit square being tight in a casting corner

I suspect I use a 3/8 socket and a knuckle joint

Am sort of thinking my 1/2 sockets are too wide to fit here, mybe 60% sure on rhis

But could be wrong

I actually meant that a 13mm socket/spanner is loose fitting on bolt 3a.. I was going to "tap" an Imperial 1/2 socket onto it to undo.. really don't want to round off this last bolt..
I'm the second owner of this 09 panda.. bought it with 27000 on it .. ( 125000 now) maybe the starter was replaced before?

The timber and straps is not needed for removing the gearbox. Just take out ALL bolts (don't forget the hidden starter motor bolt) and lower it with a floor jack.

Putting the box back is MUCH EASIER with a ratchet strap and timber. We all (should) know that we have to align it parallel, correct height and correct front-back. It then has to rotate so a bolt can go in. That's four settings with a heavy gearbox and poor access. Support the box with strap up against the bell-housing and ratchet until its at correct height. It's now dead easy to get it aligned and get an easy access top bolt into place.

Cheers Dave.. yeah I understand the difficulty of getting the box aligned while holding it in a confined space - the ratchet strap is kind of a second pair of hands 👍😸
Really appreciate the help from you and Koalar.. it's probably going to be the weekend before I get back to it-
Thanks again
