Hello, are there any differences between the floor pans of the 4x4 and 4x2 169 Panda? Could a rear sub-frame from a 4x4 be bolted onto a 4x2? Finally, assuming the floor pans are the same, how do they differ from a Fiat 500?

Yep lots

A pillar
C Pillar

Prop tunnel
Sills

And so one

Not a viable option in my opinion
These differences you mentioned are just between the 4x4 and 4x2 pandas or between the pandas and the 500s? I find it strange that, at least according to wikipedia, they all are made in same platform, which usually translates to very little differences.

The 2wd panda and 500 1.2 share the same engine and gearbox

The suspension is similar, but the 500 is 50mm wider front and rear, parts do mainly swap

The floor pans are similar but not the same some of the mounting points for the seats are different

Any panda 2wd to any panda 4x4 although looks similar, nearly every panel is different

The no room for the transfer box, the pickups for the rear suframe are in different places

The front of the 4x4 is used to for the natural power so is the nearest I suppose and the space for the transfer box is now used for the gas tank instead

The sills are thicker and stronger, although you can use a 2wd as a base and cut the ends off

And so on

Thank you for all of this great information, it gave me great insight. I guess there goes the possibility of a bolt on 4x4 conversion in the 500.
PS: Out of curiosity, does the shell of the diesel pandas differ from the gas ones, or is it just petty stuff?

Don't know never looked in to it

The front subframe on some are different but the chassis rails look the same

I can't think of anything that's insurmountable

Probable worth checking around.the fuel tank

Nothing is impossible, I when to collage with someone ithat built a rally car out of Subaru estate, they cut it down the middle, took a section out and welded it back up

I also know someone that converted a front wheel drive car to rear, by turning the engine round and building a tunnel from scratch

Cost Vs benefit near always favours buying the correct car in the first place

Buy a sports cas
Buy a 4x4
Buy a diesel

Not buy a shopper and convert to a sports car
Not buy a 2wd and convert to a 4x4
Not buy a petrol and convert to a diesel

All the little things add up, suspension,.brakes,. stability control, ECU,.body computer, dash and so on

There's a.few engine conversion 1.2 to a 1.4 to a tjet

The plan was getting either a diesel panda or 500 and convert it with the parts from the climbing to awd, I thought it was just a matter of "simple" bolt ons, swap the gearbox, put in the driveshaft, viscous coupling and swap the torsion bar for the rear sub-frame and differential. The 4x4 pandas around here are all the cross version which I'm not a fan of how it looks, I know the climbing got the diesel and was pretty normal looking, but they are rarer.

The early viscose coupling (pre 2007) are nearly all toast

The fluid doesn't age too well, there welded shut

There's not many places that will drill, drain, flush and refill, they are almost unobtainable I'm the UK and about a grand in Italy

Later hydroelectric systems will need all the electronics swapping as well as the 4x4

Body computer, 4x4 module, wiring loom, ECU, dash keys, abs, slew sensor and so on, exhaust needs to be rerouted transversely

I am pretty sure there's no central mount or room to fit one

Look through my old posts I already compared the rear subframe mounts and they were completely different place's

You could start with a 4x4 lower and change the lights, you'd have to check but I think the bumpers will swap
