Hi fellow panda people has anyone conkered the removal of the petrol tank large cap where the petrol pump/float is situated I got the seats out but the electric clip wouldn't come apart then the cap itself was rock solid tried hitting with a screwdriver and hammer with no joy had to put it back together as needed it for work any help would be appreciated (fuel gauge showing incorrect amount)

As I said

The neck of the tank swells up and it will be very tight

You will not be able to safely knock it on or off

If you do mange to get it off it will be almost impossible to put back

There's a few options

Proper tool
Fiat. 1.870.736.000

Universal tool

Or make your own

I made one out of an old horseshoes which worked okay

Hi wise one I'm struggling to find the correct petrol pump for my car ML61EHU without taking it out . I've looked everywhere and there saying doesn't fit your car etc etc I can't even find out if it's a mk 3 or whatever

It's a 169 according to fiat

Some vender call is a mark2
Other venders call it a mark3

On here it's classed as a mark3 as does the panda wiki page

As I warned you

When old they are very very tight

And are best left alone unless the pump goes

A ratchet about 3/4 of a meter should do it

Or maybe a pipe over handle of a shorter one

Or tie of rod or stick to a ratchet

They do split open with a lump hammer and chisel but that would be a very last resort

The device you recommended was up to the job but the fins on the actual lid are really small I agree possibly the extension bar could be the answer the prongs on the extraction tool when in place are slightly to wide for the fins when in place so I am thinking of setting it all in place and putting a slither of metal in place to take up the slack then see what happens either that or send the new pump back and have a few drinks instead 😆

I have always used this and never been beaten.;)

I bought this it's made of solid stainless steel and it wouldn't budge it I'm loosing the will to live
I bought this tool at #16 some years ago can't remember where, to do a Fiat Doblo1868cc Diesel and it has worked on all the other ones over the years,
The beauty is it has three legs so it doesn't tip and you can lock the jaws at the set size, then I use a 3/4 drive bar and socket.:)

Yes I was thinking that 3 is better than 2 I will have a look around for something else or I might send the pump back as it's only the float that is faulty
