Technical Timing belt & Water pump change.

Hi guys

Could do with a little help here please on how to change the timing belt and tensioner on the 100hp. I want to flush the system and change the thermostat at the same time as well as the crankshaft pulley and seal if its weaping.

I've bought the tool that locks the cam and has, what looks like rods that you place in the cylinders when the spark plugs are remover to get TDC I believe.

I've got a friend coming over who is good mechanic, but I want to do it myself with his help. I'm not sure if he's familiar with the 100hp engine.

Can you give me a talk through on the procedure please. Also, is there anything else I should check/change while I'm doing it. Is it easy to get the rad hose off and do I need to get new hose clips or just jubilee clips if I damage the original ones.

I've got a new aux belt tensioner and belt ready to go on to.

As an example I don't follow the official instructions on the 1.1 and 1.2 and it saves a shed loads of work

@irc might have some tips


If it's still got the original steel bands on the hoses I just swap them to jubilee as and when needed
