It's a shame that Fiat haven't done a hot JTD abarth version yet as Seat have the Leon cupra TDI which has 150bhp + 228lbs/ft of torque.

I couldn't agree more. Fiat is missing a JTD Abarth with a slightly tuned engine compared to the normal version. Well actually Fiat is missing a hot Abarth with a petrol engine as well, both in a Stilo version and a Punto version.

Quick question: I don't know how much 228lbs/ft is? Is there any easy way to convert lbs/ft to nm or kgm?

228lbs/ft is equivalent to 310Nm. Same as the VW 130bhp diesel unit (What you think I worked that out! )

Thanks.

I admit i was a bit lazy.....didn't even use goggle, just thought i ask here and somebody would answer ;)

It's actually the same way you convert lbs/ft to nm and convert kw to bhp.
In both cases you just multiply lbs/ft and kw with 1,36. (y)

Multiply lb/ft by 1.36 and that gets you there (y)

I now have the Multijet 147 for the next 24 hours because the Punto is being sorted (dodgy fuel filter that leaks). I love DBS Desira in Hertford (yes, I can be bribed with an Alfa 147). This car is sensational... :D

:bang: There's nothing wrong with the Abarth mate, it's an amazing car.

I dont think he's saying theres anything wrong with it  Just that there needs to be one with a bit more fire breathed onto it ;)

Would be good if Fiat did do a rival for the Seat Leon FR150TDI though, they've missed a perfect opportunity to increase sales- quick diesels are getting so popular now!

Excactly! There's nothing wronk with the Abarth, I would buy one myself if i didn't have to drive 200km per day. The price is about the same as the multijet but the increased price of fuel is just to much (plus i really like to drive diesels).
But i do think it needs to have a little more uumphhh to be called Abarth. Now if they did a turbo version of the Abarth, that would be cool (y)

I'm not getting into arguments about the power on the Abarth because to me its perfectly fine as it is, it has a lot more uuumph than people realise.

And the point about the needing more uumph to be called an Abarth is pointless because every other Fiat has an Abarth badge even if its got a 1.2 engine with 80bhp thanks to the readily available badges. Sure it would be nice to have MORE power...i wouldn't complain if it did but it's not exactly lacking in it's present form.

IMO Fiat got it right with the car as it stands, there's no way you could get another car that matches the Abarth for equipement, power and looks for that sort of money.

What is wrong with releasing a car that has all those things at such a competitive price.
Im certain if Fiat wanted to, they could have released a 250bhp Turbo version, maybe they didn't do it because a lot of Fiat owners tend to do their own thing with the cars and make them individual.
I remember when the Golf GTi was so special and that only had 112bhp, people didn't complain about that, they just took the car for what it was and enjoyed it.
Why can't people do the same for the Abarth ?
170bhp in its standard form, easily modded up to around 200bhp with a remap, CDA and exhaust and still quite a few thousand pounds bellow the price of the cars that people seem intent on comparing it to.

I say thanx FIAT you did OK for me. (y)

Check this thread. https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=26901. & sorry Koa but I think it could use a turbo just to make it a proper hot hatch.

lol... and if ones available im up for buying it, thats for sure... I just don't think the abarths as slow as a lot of people think in standard form.

I know what you mean. The thing that really gets me is that everyone keeps comparing it to the likes of Golf R32, Alfa 147 gta, Honda civic typeR & Seat's Leon cupraR when really it was aimed at the Golf V5 & Ford focus ST170.

Exactly mate (y)

you can't really raz a diesel, you can drive it hard, but i'd never call it razzing! Your running out of puff when the petrol driver is just starting to razz his car!

Stiloboy, you haven't driven a modern diesel IIRC...!!! Before you start to take yours past 5k revs he's already 10 car lengths ahead and making you smell the remains of his fumes! You can "raz" a diesel relative to driving a diesel normally and aslong as the engines are comparable specwise the diesel will come out aswell/probably better given the torque difference.

C'mon he has a 1.2, it's gonna be at least 20 car lengths :D

tell me how many diesels have a red line over 5000rpm! And even then they are puffing by 4000rpm! I'm not saying it will be slow, but you just cant rag a diesel like a petrol! The diesel might pull away quicker, but you don't get the same sensation! You might get more of a shove, but its that watching the rev needle go round the gauge thats got the raz buzz word!

And yes, i have driven a modern diesel, nowt wrong with em! Nowt wrong with my car either! Afterall you might have a quicker car, but its also gonna take you 160,000 miles to recoup the difference in cost/running costs! :p
