where are they and what are they called?

Right click on name, and View-->Message history - although I prefer to use Messenger Plus logs.

Location on HDD - My Documents/My Chat logs.

When you first installed MSN there is a option saying "save chat logs" or somthing like that, i just left it unticked.

but when i got messenger plus it saves them for me anyway, do you have messenger plus?
