Fairly recently, I was on here regarding a starting issue, when my Year-2008 1.4 was failing to cold-start first go, then requiring a second 'go' in order to get running - this seemed to get solved, after I fitted a new set of spark plugs.

Now though, I am getting a sort of spluttering start up, when I start from cold - it seems like it's not firing up on all cylinders, may need a second 'go' in order to start with lumpy riunning, which clears after a few seconds of running, with me working the throttle to blip it up and 'clear it's throat'. Thereafter, car runs normally and any hot restarts are no problem, it will 'go' first time, straight into normal running. Next day though, back to splutter starting though!

Any ideas, please, as to likely cause?

Is it using coolant? Sorry if we went round that before. I'm thinking a minor leak into cylinders through head or inlet manifold gasket. Not bad enough to affect normal warm running but moistens the cylinders overnight?

Gasket issues aren't unknown on the 1.4.

Separately there's been a thread in the last few days on 1.4 coil packs. Possibly a bit extravagant to replace them on the offchance though.

Thanks Punto+; no loss of coolant. (Quick chat with friendly garage today; they immediately thought of coilpacks but would need their fuller investigation - wonder if one those plug diagnostic machines would detect the issue?)
