well here I am again...
The car has been running smooth, the engine management light comes on and off every so often and the limp mode problem seems to have gone away, all was well until today...
Came to a roundabout and the car just stopped, I tried to restart it but it just turned over and wouldn't fire, fortunately a couple of big lads came and pushed me (well the car ) into a side road off the roundabout.
I opened the bonnet and there was a burning smell, when I tried to restart it it just clicked like a flat battery.
I called the RAC recovery, he put it in gear and tried to rock it, he says the engine seems as though it is seized.
I am a mechanic from years ago, but the memory is not to good, it has had a new cambelt when I bought the car, an oil and filter change plus flush about 2 months ago and the coolant level is fine.
I think the starter motor has jammed in situ, that's why it wont turn over and appears to have a seized engine... any ideas gratefully accepted:mad:

Burning smell could be a belt that's gone?
Is the aux belt still there? Easy to see...That could be why the battery is flat??
Worse still...is the cambelt still on?

I have just had an initial call from the garage saying that they suspect the cambelt has gone, but they will probe deeper and give me their findings later on.
I have my receipt ( paid cash) from March 1st 2013 with the words cambelt in the fitted section. the odometer reading is stated as 68,000 the car has just topped 74,000.
If the vehicle is under 6 months old the garage has a duty to prove that the cambelt was fitted properly. which could be their downfall as they couldn't diagnose the engine control fault. Looks like the car is dead
