Well what can I say, after 2 years of ownership its time to say goodbye to the 100hp.

I honestly thought this car would be with me forever but I was offered a deal on a Suzuki Swift Sport i couldnt refuse, i got nearly 4 grand off it in the end so im happy with that.

The Panda has easily been the most reliable car Ive ever owned and definitely one of the most fun.

I would like to thank the forum for always making me feel welcome and for useful advice as always. Its a shame i never made a meet and you didnt get to see the Panda in person but work always seems to get in the way :(

here's some pictures of the adventures me and the Panda have shared.

To me the older Suzuki Swift looked like a BL Mini style copy though to be fair the BMW Mini is bloated.

Slightly off topic
Fiat and Suzuki collaborated on the Sedici/SX4

Wikipedia quote
Introduced in December 2005, at the Bologna Motor Show, and was built at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Hungary. The expected production volume was 60,000 units per year, one-third of these to be sold by Fiat, and two-thirds sold by Suzuki and badged as the SX4. The design was created by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign Giugiaro studio, and was an alternative to mini multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), which have a more "boxy" appearance.

Seriously though...anyone got any experience of the Swift?

IIRC Zanes has one.

The Swift Sport is generally well regarded, and somewhat under rated. It's no Fiesta RS, but it's an honest warm hatch and IMO it'd leave an A500 in the weeds in all respects bar looks. The 100HP was a lot of car for the money back in the day (I was offered a new one in 2010 for under £8k), but I think you'll find the Swift Sport is a definite step upwards.

In the past, I put a shade over 120k on a (very different) Suzuki; mechanically it never put a foot wrong and needed absolutely nothing beyond service parts.

Happily my own Panda is now over 70k, and is proving equally robust.

Always heard and read good things about the swift sport, its a drivers car very much in the same mold as the 100hp but a bit more civilised and certainly faster... shame your 100hp is going but i'm sure it'll find a good home.

the panda with the swift in the background

the swift

i cant really compare the panda and the swift properly yet because im stuck below 3k revs.

its definitely nicer inside with loads more toys to play with. the seats are amazing. the handling is great but i think the panda is on par there. its definitely less bouncy at the rear and not as crashy either. i think the swift looks stunning but i love the looks of the 100hp too.

i will genuinely miss the panda, all the salesman at sturgess couldnt wait to drive it either, they all love the 100hp

I've always like the Swift and it really suits the metallic blue. I've recommended one to a friend but was wondering about this:-

Is this a Suzuki recommendation or your own decision? The last few cars I've bought new the manufacturer recommendations have been to drive normally rather than any prescribed "running-in".

it was my own decision. ive always liked them and i should of bought one a long time ago but i bought a twingo RS instead. big mistake that was but if it wasnt for that i would of never owned a panda.

as for running in, i was told to do this by suzuki so im doing what they say in case i have any warranty issues and they try and get out of it. i would highly recommend one though so far but ive had it less than a week. ask me again in a year when ive had some proper time with it haha

With any new car to day avoid treating it too gently. The result will be prematurely polished cylinders and a tight engine. Drive it firmly with no sustained thrashing but also no low speed slogging. After about 500 miles it should feel less "new" and properly "free'd up" by 1000 miles. Some cars wont be fully bedded in for 10,000 miles.

Suzuki told me to go max 3k up to 500 miles, 4k up to 1000 miles then at 1000 miles take it out and absolutely poon it and hit the limiter when its warm. they want it back at 2k as well to do an oil and filter change and to make sure everything is ok. luckily that ones free :D
