Technical Ignition Lights but Intermittent Starting

In case anyone comes across this post in future this is the location of the earth leads on the chassis rail

Ha Ha Ha!!

It seems the joke and £27 for a new earth strap is on me....!!!

Car failed to start again this morning without the clutch being depressed....oh no I thought...back to square one.

However after reading the manual I found this...

Apply the parking brake, place the shift lever in NEUTRAL,

and press the clutch pedal before starting the

vehicle. This vehicle is equipped with a clutch interlocking

ignition system. It will not start unless the clutch

pedal is pressed to the floor.

So it seems the car starting without the clutch being pressed....is the anomaly here and not the other way around!

Maybe I will leave it as it is and stop fiddling!!!

As far as I know the 500 doesn't have any device to stop you stating the car without the clutch pressed down

Funny, after 7 years of owning Fiats, and having to press the clutch to start the car- I now have Renault, which won't start with the clutch pressed.... Sometimes I have to look at the steering wheel to remember which car I'm driving before pressing or not ;)
