Hi m8´s!
I´m really confused about buying a new fiat panda 1100 young! I really like it very much, it´s quite simple ( well it´s a panda isn´t it!!) but i dont have any info about it, like fuel consumption, ride, does it rust like the older versions ( like mine [^])
Is that 1100cc equal to the new seicento engine?? how fast is it??
They are asking €5500 for it, and it´s new 0Km´s!! with 2 year warranty.

I would rather give €5500 for a new fiat panda than for a rent-a-car-and-race-it-till-it-!!!BANGS!!! car ( I know, personal experience :I HEHEEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHE)

And it´s a final version of this well fantastic car!

conclusion, ...... I NEED HELP!!!!! PLEASE :D .........

regards

There are plenty on this site who'd argue we need help for liking the Panda :)

Looking at FIATs site:

http://www.fiat.com/showroom/IT2_ShowRoom_5.asp?Mod=7

http://www.fiat.com/showroom/IT2_ShowRoom_5.asp?Mod=4

show the same 54 BHP 1108cc figures for both SEI and Panda.

It doesn't mention anything useful like acceleration figures,
or top speed though, does it [?]

Can the supplying dealer not get the figures for it [?]

Failing that, you might get some joy from the Netherlands Panda Owners Club

[email protected]

web:http://surf.to/fiatpanda/

My Dutch isn't upto much, but an Email might work..

Anyway, it seems the Panda aerodynamics (not!) let it down: 6.4l / 100 Km,
compared with the SEI 6.0l / 100 Km

Rust wise - I'd imagine it's no better than post '90 models:
doors not galvanised - most rust away [xx(] , others are OK.

Also, as you say, it's probably in its final year of production now:
so you may run into spares problems in a few years time.

I think you'll have to make your own choice - I'm too biased to offer impartial advice :I

Thanks John!

I really do need any information i can get, cause the internet doesn´t provide lot of info about this car, dunno why also [?]

Oh the dealers... but i don´t think they have any kind of brochure, cause they imported 19 pandas from italy, and wasn´t sold in portugal since 1998/1999 i think. they import new cars and sell it like it was an used one in the fiat autoexpert dealers.
It´s a good way to buy a new car thas cost´s less than an used one :D

Well if it does 6.4l/100km i think that´s quite good, mine is doing around 6.8/7.2 and its the 750 [:(!]

the rust is the only thing that I´m gettin really concerned now! I don´t want it to rust[V]

well I will keep it in a garage, will it help[?]

the fiat site could give more spec´s about the car´s ,I think..., they´re quite poor, even in pics.

I will look around in the dutch club to see if I can find anything!

Thank´s for the help!:D

Regards

clean and polish it once a week and it wont rust for ages, that or move to somewhere that it doesn't rain! you take care of the car and you should be able to get 5 years rust free, and will you really want to keep the car any longer than that?

SEI POWER

Regarding rust and garages:
I understand putting a wet car away in a garage is _worse_ for it than being left outside [:0]
The moisture on the outside evaporates (eventually) and you have your car in a warm humid box. Not good [V]
The best option is to live where:
it's dry and hot.
it doesn't rain.
they don't put salt on the roads in winter.

However, if you're stuck in mainland Europe, a "car port" is a good thing:
It's a bit like a garage with one or more sides always open:
plenty of ventilation, but open to thieves too [:(!]

In terms of lasting, they seem to do 10 to 15 years, provided they're cared for..

BTW the consuption figures - I'd expect to get worse than manufacturers figures ;)

Well I don´t really know how many years will I keep it, since it´s gonna be my mom´s car, I´ll stick to my 750:D

I´m seeing the site that John has posted and it´s by far the best! Thanx:)

Yes, I´m expecting higher fuel consumption than tose that are claimed by Fiat, it always is [:(!]

today i´ve seen also a new fiat that is sold as used, it´s a SEI but I dunno the price, if it´s the same price or even little higher , it is also a great choice isn´t it??

These days I´ve kept the little panda in the garage all wet, it´s raining like hell in portugal, and when I wake up it´s still all wet;) with the agravation that I live on the coast[V] glad I polished it[^]

Donz, if I can get it to last 5 years without rust, I think it will be a new record for the pandas unfortunatly[V] that´s why I´m lookin for SEI and I´ve seen one, tink it was from 2001, it had that citymatic gearbox, convertible and it was metalic grey, also on a fiat autoexpert dealer, for 4400€ with only 13000km´s

For now I give a look at the site

All the best

Bruno

If you get a new Panda and have it rustproofed by a specialist, it should last quite well.

Regarding the SEI

It's a more comfortable ride, and quieter than the Panda.
ISR it's a little bit smaller too, but I can't find internal dimensions for the Panda anywhere to back this up.

FWIW _don't_ get the "selecta" auto box: it's fine while it works, but failures happen... and the box costs a fortune to replace B)

Take care :)

Back again:D

Does anybody have big problems entering the fiatforum page???

sometimes it can reach 2 entire weeks till I can enter it!![V]

Update:

I´m goin for the Panda, just waiting for the credit approval:D
and grab on the 8 years of anti- rust waranty of fiat since it´s new, plus the 3 year paint warranty and of course the 3 year fabric (2 from Fiat and one from autoexpert) and want it all written and signed, don´t want to be fooled:)
The colour is kind of a turkish green, with blue seats and the dash/door panels are light grey such as the carpet, and quite a funny lookin car:D
They are goin to offer a radio, front speakers, antena, right external mirror and some wheel covers (forgot the name[8)])

I went for a little spin in the fiat parkin lot and the felt very smooth, such as the breaks! LOVE IT!!!:D It also felt very strange drivin a brand new panda, felt like I returned to the past!

When I´ll pick it up I´ll take a lot of photos of it for sure:D:D:D together with little abarth[8D][8D][8D]

Got to post some pics of little panda, it´s has got some new updates, but I´m still waitin for some more, then I´ll post them, together with the new baby! :D

All the best

Bruno

( Affraid that little abarth will get jelous;) then I´ll be in big trouble!!)

I bet the servo brakes are a shock :D

Does it have an airbag too [?]
Looking at the recall info that roby76it posted the later ones have [8D]

Looking forward to the pix ;)

It terms of getting onto this site:
yes, there are times when it doesn't work for me either[:(!]
I tried "pinging" the site, and it just times out somewhere in the 'States.
GOK why.

Yes, it´s really a big shock:D don´t know how my break pedal hasn´t broken yet!! When it´s an emergency give it all you got, Bruce Lee style!!:D:D

Nice question... dunno if it´s got an airbag... but the steering wheel has those four thin arm´s with a big black pillow in the middle... suppose it´s got one [?]

guess I´ll take a look at that post!
