After a few nights of takeaways (needs must sometimes :( ) plus the BBQ yesterday, it was time to get back to the gym today.

Once again put in the guys of an hour - treadmill, rowing machine, 10 minutes cycling then a little bit of time on the weights. Not a lot else to add really. Need to get back on the healthy supper train this week.

Nice one Harper, pleased for you :)

Martyn... have you done a weigh in yet? do one every week to see how you are getting on.

I have been to the gym every weekday since returning to Nigeria, and although there is no scales here, im feeling a good bit lighter, chest is feeling tight in my tops and jeans are falling off my arse, good sign that im improving. Also my general muscle tone and definition is improving, actually quite chuffed looking at myself in the mirror at the gym now :) (call me a fckn poser if you want.... dont give a toss haha)

Up 0.35 of a kilo this morning  Not really surprising though considering I've been relatively inactive this week and had a couple of cheeky G&Ts when I got back from Westhill on Monday/Tuesday evenings. I did do a few half-hearted sit-ups and press-ups last night when I realised the rain wasn't going to go off...

never mind, I've lost it before I can lose it again

Done :D

Oh dear this is getting difficult again. Summer is an easy time to lose weight as I live on salads and spend much of my time outside but when the longer nights arrive all I want to do is hide inside and live on comfort food.

I need some encouragement people... Help!

Well ive been in Nigeria for a week and only just got into some exercise, started on sunday lunchtime by going to the gym, and carried it on in the evening by starting the insanity program.. yet again, this time I managed to complete it last night too and will be doing my 3rd straight sesh tonight. Cutting down my portion sizes a bit as well so im aiming to be down sub 85kg by time I get home on 23rd.

Unexpected house and car bills mean I have a new strategy for this...

Luckily the freezer is quite well stocked at the moment so I'm not going to starve completely but I certainly can't afford junk food this month :)

Sesh 4 coming in the next half hour, not good to see everyone else has given up

Nah not given up yet.

Got weighed this morning for a study I'm doing and I'm down another kilo since I last stood on the scales (I always use the work ones as they are calibrated daily and I can't kid myself). All thanks to exercise, no alcohol on a school night and having at least 3 days a week of sensible eating.

keep going with insanity - and not just because it sounds brutal  Oh and if you don't make it below 85 kg before you get home don't forget muscle weighs more than fat ;)

It's what I've been telling myself for years...

As we're near the end of 2013 I thought I'd do a quick review of my weight-loss journey. I started 2013 by doing dry January which I managed but discovered I missed the crisps that usually accompany a G&T or glass of wine more than the alcohol itself. They were reintroduced half way through the month (oops) and the weight I lost in the first couple of weeks crept back on.

Mid-spring early-summer I started eating less and exercising more and although there have been a few blips along the way I have managed to lose 11 kilos which I'm very pleased about. It's been slow at times as I've gone for a gradual loss and general change in habits rather than a fad diet/can't stick to it exercise regime and that's what I intend to keep doing for 2014.

The plan for 2014

The overall plan is to lose another 6-7 kilos which should take me to my perfect weight and this is going to be kick-started by another challenge for January. Not alcohol this time but my big diet nemesis of crisps. So for all of January I will not eat a single crisp or any other savoury bad-for-me snack such as cheddars or pastry-based snack. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms just thinking about this [attachment=1:3uzzdlfx]speechless-smiley-040.gif[/attachment:3uzzdlfx]

Anyone else up for joining me? It doesn't have to be crisps - it can be any weakness you choose such as alcohol, takeaways, chocolate, biscuits etc. No fundraising or owt just a challenge to see if it can be done

Oh dear, it's that time of year when exercise is essential to counteract all the extra food and drink and I've aggravated an old ankle injury. The bloody awful Aberdeen traffic yesterday meant I had to abandon the bus a mile away from our lunch venue and race at speed to stop me from being outrageously late. Unfortunately the combination of that and high-heeled boots means I'm now sitting with a bag of frozen peas cooling a very swollen ankle :(

Of course it probably would have been ok if I'd made my excuses after the meal and headed for home to ice it there and then but I worked on the principle that alcohol is a diuretic and would help remove the excess fluid from my ankle
