I use the holts double concentrate stuff from Costco :) Dead cheap and dead good :)
I got some stuff from Halfords and it's crap.
Here it is used virtually neat and frozen solid :(

Yeah I used to use the Halfords stuff, it's complete and utter rubbish and would freeze up well before it was meant to.

Here's the stuff I use
This is the normal holts stuff but the stuff I use is high performance and is meant to protect down to -36 when used neat

Got it for about half that price from Costco and have two full 5l bottles in my shed because it's cheap and you end up going through a lot of screenwash in the winter.

Always worked for me & we had proper Winters back then....

On which car(s)? and what sort of washer jet design?

I'm willing to give it a go but on my Alfa the 'nozzles' are actually 3/4 pin holes in a piece of plastic that runs the length of each wiper, what with them and the hoses running outside the car I doubt that the heat would travel that far up them.

Little indent that holds nozzles had frozen water blocking it off. Don't know if 100HP suffers same problem.

Design fault?
Solution? - no pun intended.
Additional sound deadening on diesel also insulating scuttle area from engine heat?
I know what you mean - If that indentation fills with water which then freezes your washer is underneath ice. There is a drainage hole, but there's a ridge in the indentation which will hold water (I think, need to go and have another look at the Panda)
I don't think sound deadening on the diesel prevents that area getting any more heat than it would on a petrol version.

Halfords standard screenwash only goes down to -7C when used neat - not very good!

My washers have also frozen, but then I only use water.
Was stuck in Sainsburys with a dirty screen, and after a minute of wondering what to do, realised that a bit of snow wiped across a warm screen cleans it perfectly.
Obviously not best done on the hard shoulder!!

Do you honestly think that it's a good idea to be using water? When it's minus something outside and you're on the motorway and your screen is dirty and you squirt water it's either not going to come out, OR it's going to freeze.

*shakes head*

I tried to sort my undiluted water problem out today. The tank had been filled with hot water previously left for a while and then syphoned as dry as possible. I put a fan heater on the ground under the radiator and let it blow up into the compartment. Left it on for some time but without effect. I couldn't hear the pump motors running so checked the fuse. Nothing wrong with it. My suspicion is that the -15 deg temperatures in this area have really frozen the pumps and that perhaps their location reduces the effect of the fan heater. What I intend trying next is to direct hot air onto the pumps and if that frees them I can check out the piping and nozzles before refilling with neat screenwash.

How is the tank accessed? Am I right thinking its behind the front wheel arch? .

Tbh I'd just refill it with neat screenwash. Will slowly thaw out and then should work. What you not concidered that the stalk switches could be the problem?

Jon

It could be that the filter (if there is one) at the bottom of the tank is blocked with dirt etc. although you should still be able to hear the pump trying to work.
