OK folks, what films are you waiting on in 2006?

I am looking forward to X-men 3, loved the first two so should be good althought the Director is Brett Ratner who although did good jobs with Rush Hour and Red Dragon I'm not sure if he can be as good as the original Director Bryan Singer who must've signed over rights or was bullied by the Studio's or he may have simply forgot because he was directing my next awaited film......

Superman Returns! Hopefully it will be as good as Batman Begins in the scheme of remakes.

The other big release is Miami Vice, starrinf Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx and directed by Michael Mann (Heat and Collateral director and incidently the guy who done the original TV show back in the 80's) I've seen trailers for all three but we all know trailers are meant to look good so I'll just need to pay my money and see!

I’ve watched a few films recently, not all necessary new ones but just ones I had missed.

Spartan – Army thriller with Val Kilmer – Couldn’t work out what was going on early on so stopped watching it I’m afraid but I doubt I missed much.

Dukes of Hazzard – You know the film! – Decent popcorn flick, seen worse and seen better.

Starsky & Hutch – The one with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson – really funny at parts plus the villain is Vince Vaughan comedy God so I really liked it.

Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) – Remake of John Carpenters film – Dunno why it didn’t do better at the Box Office but I thought it was decent enough, good action.

MindHunters – Another Val Kilmer film – A few actors in this I haven’t seen and I thought it was pretty lame TBH.

XXX 2 – Ice Cube this time – Decent action thriller, just disengage your brain and don’t wish for any Oscar winning performances.

Got another few to go through and I’ll post up my verdicts soon.

Not too popular this thread, come on peeps, too much FF is not good for you!

I seen Four Brothers on Friday, bought it on the one review I read from IMDB and was not let down, good film with a decent script and great action scenes.

And tonight I went to see "Walk the Line" I will assume everyone knows what I am talking about! Very well acted and unlike some bio-pics kept me watching. Reese Witherspoon is gorgeous!

Seen "Two for the Money" on 12/03 (a Sunday afternoon, 12 o'clock showing where only myself and Mrs Liam were in the theatre, no crunching, coughing, mobiles etc pure heaven, jealous Jai?! LOL)

So it's a film about American Football betting starring Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino + Rene Russo (man she is ugly these days!) and Jeremy Piven (yeah you've never heard of him but he's a great actor and pops up in everything!)

Sorry for all the brackets!

So the film is OK storywise but the acting of Pacino is great in a entertainment style, not oscar winning but enjoyable to watch with some funny one liners plus he makes it look so easy!

Another film I recently saw on DVD this time was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jnr in a Shane Black Scripted and directed balck comedy, I loved it, not a special effect or Orc/elf in sight awesome!

Looks like I am the sole contributor to this thread but no worries.

Seen a fair few films since I last posted but I'll give my verdict on the last three rentals.

Saw II - Saw I rehashed for me, wasn't held or impressed sorry.

Flightplan - erm can't really give my verdict as it gives away the plot so see for yourself if you fancy it.

Cry_Wolf - yeah you are all wondering Cry what?! Cry_Wolf, I seen it in ASDA on the DVD chart and was drawn to the cover but decided to rent before buying. OK so it won't win any oscar nominations for acting but then the acting isn't bad either but I was kept going right to the end and even the person I though it was it wasn't so extra brownie points to the writers for that.

Find out info on these movies at www.imdb.com

I fancy 16 Blocks so may go and see that this weekend.

Sammi and I went to see Ice Age 2 on Friday. It was good, clean fun, with a decent story. I thought it was as good as the first one, but sammi thought this one was better.

Me and H are supposed to be watching narnia at weekend :)
We did. It was good, though it's about 20 years since I read the books, so I can't remember exactly how close it sticks to the original. We both enjoyed it though.

well having a break from revision so thought i would post here.

saw flightplan a couple of weeks ago, i dont like jodie foster personally but i enjoyed this film but like bloomfield liam said cant say to much without spoiling it.

and then rented the exorcism of emily rose, it wasn't what i was expecting but considering its meant to be based on real events some of the stuff in that is freaky

also rented into the blue which was pretty boring iirc :(

and i think the other one we got was the decent, when the group of girls go exploring caves it is interesting but then was disappointed with the ending. oh and is a little gory at times (for me any way :yuck: )

and havent yet seen hostel but the reports from friends is that its a little over rated so may wait for 'special' view on that one.

ok so no i dont know her personally maybe that should of read differently, but have not really seen a film with her in it where i was impressed but i didnt think she was too bad in flightplan :D

Seen 16 Blocks last week, duno how much some of the reviewers were paid to big it up but for the Director and acting cast I thought it was decidedly average.

Going to get a few DVD's out this weekend.

kung fu hustle - well worth it
and despite myself bought sideways last week and loved it

Sideways, the wine tasting comedy thing with with Paul whatisface (non starring role actor in most films!) I didn't really like it, 45 mins and not really much had happened so I just stopped the DVD.

Got 3 DVD's at the weekend.

Lord of War - can only comment on the first 20minutes as the DVD was scratched to hell and refused to play after that, looked OK, will get it again no doubt.

A History of Violence - a much talked about film since it was David Cronenbergs first film for a bit plus it had a pretty impressive cast but sadly for me it was a dissappointment, the story was kinda average and at the end I just thought so what.

Urban Legends: Bloody Mary - yeah thise in the know are thinking why did you rent this, well Global is 3 for 2 so this is free kind of and there was nothing else really, as for a verdict, average run of the mill teen horror, I'd say avoid if your over 16.

Not a rental but an impluse purchase was Kiss of Death, a film from 1993 I think, great cast and after watching I thought if it was polished here and there script and editing wise it would be up there with Heat and Goodfellas.
