Don't tell me Twincamms your Italian, might explain why you've got so much time to spend on here posting all day though! ;)

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, 5 disc CD Changer, plastic wheel trims - and 41.7mpg average so far. Love it, Oh yes!

Well if their workmanship and attitude is so bad, why buy their cars?

What cars do England produce? (not those poxy small companies like TVR, purlease!)

Oh, I forgot that the English are such a hard working breed! [}:)]

You from Italy yourself TC, or does your family originate there?

At least neither english nor Italian are as lazy as the Spanish:D

Someone from Spain is gonna flame me so bad I can feel the heat already[8D]

Hi, James, my father is from Palermo and my mother is from Napoli, they came to this country in 1974 when I was three years old.

They originally came over for work with the intention of going back after five years, but with high unempolyment in the South of Italy, they chose to stay and have worked and lived here ever since.

I go back to visit all my relations regularly as most of them are there. I often wonder why my parents stayed, it's grim this climate, but there is only one answer..............work.

The Spanish? Lazy? Well I don't know about that, but they are crap, well they have to be, they make SEATs. :D

Now I'm gonna get flamed! :p

That must be great! I wish some of my family would clear off to another country so I can go and visit (i.e a holiday on the cheap). For some reason they won't take the hint.

Yes Steve, I agree, but the truth is, Italy is a lovely and beautiful country, bestowed with the finest history, style, art, culture and traditions, it's a fantastic place to holiday, but unless your are loaded, it's not a good place to live as a working class person.

The above comment of course relates to the South of Italy which is from Rome down. From Rome upwards you see mass industrialisation, which creates a rat-race society and living in the Northern regions would be just like living your life here, work, home, work, home, work, home and so on, only in a slightly nicer climate.

You're right though Steve, he should have been kicked up the arse!

People who live in Southern Europe are far happier than we are leading their simplistic lives, it's only when they come to Northern Europe and taste the money that working brings that they too become complicated and complex, which in turn makes you material which wipes that innocent, happy and simplistic joy that they once had, right off their face.

These of course are only my views, but it what I've experienced first hand.

Ah, I'ma gonna fockarroffa somawhera good ifa I winna da lotteria!

:D;)

Its a Leon isn't it? Which model, I have to say the Leon is the only Stilo rival which could tempt me, the rest and dull, dull, dull, the Cupra is lovely;)

I just know Steve C is gonna slate me know for showing an inclination towards a non Fiat:D

I've got the Leon Cupra 180 BHP 20 Valve 1.8 Turbo (2003 model with the bodykit). I really wish I went for the Leon Cupra R now though - the 225 BHP one. But all in all it's a truly fab car. Blistering pace and really good handling. [8D]

The new TDI cupra is the one I like:D

All the mags reckon the R isn't worth the extra over yours, plus its only a different ECU isn't it? you could always chip it;)

Nice car anyhow:D Personnally just couldn't insure a car like that:(

James

The R runs with 18 inch rims and has Brembo brakes and the ECU just runs with different software code on it. The body kit is also a bit more aggressive. It would cost me about £400 to get it chipped up to 220 bhp and boy have I thought about it (the 225 runs with twin turbo intercoolers whereas the Cupra only has one so it's too risky to take the bhp up much more but there are Cupra R's, which can take it, running about at 280 BHP [:0].)

The Curpa R is quite a bit dearer though at £18k. All in all I'm not too disappointed. I did think about the Stilo Abarth but was worried about residuals TBH. The Cupra is basically a VW it runs on an Audit TT engine and gearbox, Audi A3 dashboard, golf platform etc. so you might get a bit more cash come trade in time was my thought and the reliability is good (so far touch wood).

Agreed on the Leon TDI cupra (excellent economy, great performance - 150 bbp and it's got the sports look as well). If it was around at the time I got mine I would have been sorely tempted.

ps full no claims, group 16 car costs me £500 per year. Not too bad.

[xx(]1yrs no claims, own fault accident, group 5 costs me £900 a year! But I'm only 23, and have my GF 20 and Bro 19 on the policy:(

The only thing I don't like about the Leon, is no matter how you dress it up, it has five doors and that always detracts from any sportiness they may try to inject into a car.

This is not a critism, just a personal preference thing, fast car in my eyes, should have two doors, family car, well they have five doors!
