Hello, I have a Fiat Punto 2000.
The radiator fan won't turn on, I was driving on the motor way then got on the m25 heavy traffic, steam came out of the bonnet, turned out to be the water coolant, I put water in the coolant drove home (10 miles) nothing happened. there was no over heat light or anything.
A mechanic had a look at the car, he said it's the head gasket, however there are no signs that it is the head gasket, i.e no white smoke coming out of the exhaust, the oil cap isn't creamy.
The mechanic checked all the fuses, all working,
Yesterday, I drove the car for 20 miles, revved the car while idle, the fan just wouldn't turn on.
Is it the head gasket or something else stopping the fan from turning on
