I've now wrapped the hubs in their bin bags for the day. I find the use of bin bags very apt lol

Did you make sure to fit drums back to their original sides ie not mix up left and right?
Aye, i took the drums from the front drive to the back yard for cleaning one by one, to avoid this issue, they haven't been sat with each other today. Somebody in the past has marked them A and B.

Did you press brakes lots to settle shoes in position? Before video of spin?

No, i haven't done that yet. Still need to tighten/repair underneath, will do this tomorow.

Agree there is a light off centre rubbing noise, I usually give slight tap with copper mallet to square up drum on hub.
Still should be fine once other drum on and you press brake pedal a few times.:)
It occurs to me i didn't grind/clean off rust from the part of the drum that sits on the hub.

I've marked it in red, is it worth grinding that?

You can press brake pedal as much as you like before reattaching cables under.

It's a size four Thor copper mallet, just looked it up and it weighs 2830grams so apparently nearly 6.24 lbs and today costs £70 odd. Wow!
I found a 5Kg one.

What did you do with your 3Kg hammer? Its not for hanging pictures in the living room lol

A very poor go, by the looks of it.
I can't see why these handbrake cables don't have L or R printed on them. All they have is a serial number which you then have to go online to check. The previous mechanic knew at the time he'd put the wrong one on first, and should have taken it off again.

Is this so you can boast you have a bigger one than me?;)
Seriously I used it all the time when working, with that sort of weight and a good accurate swing it will soon crack taper joints on suspension/track rod ends etc. Remember I also worked on some quite large vans and trucks over the years as well as cars.
Mind you equally so, if not accurate it can break things so they do need a lot of practice, trouble is at 72 my upper body strength is not what it used to be.:(

This is Mike and his hammer and Ant and his trusty sword, engaged in battle for the honour of the Grande Punto.

I had a look to see some big hammers in action but couldn't find anything amusing.

Fingers crossed things improve later this year. Do you have an appoinment booked?

Trouble with a size 5 Mike, is the head is 70mm dia, a bit too large for small items, and the shaft is a metre long, so bit big for confined spaces. (also a PITF if dropped on your toes!!)
I still have a size 3 and 2 both genuine THOR, with copper one side and hide the other. Bought when an engineering apprentice. Did have a small size 1 many years ago, but lent it out, and sadly never saw it again.

I used to use a tiddler hammer, i'm sure me posting a picture of it was cause for some mirth :)
