every tried removing the crank cotters in old style pedal bikes so the cotters can be re used ?

Most people just turn then into a rivet !

still not had a reply from him about l/h/t..........
 
How do you change the spark plugs in your 8 valve 1.2 fiat engine may I ask ?

Airbox off, leads off, and a deep socket with a 40cm bar to crack them, then a small wrench to get them out.

I ended up buying a specialist magnetic socket, because its very annoying when the spark plugs falls into the engine somewhere and it needs fishing out.

Don't tighten the new spark plugs up with the bar, hand tighten them only with a small wrench, any resistance then stop and reposition them.

As an engineer, we were taught to remove them by undoing the nut a few turns, (probably 3-4) then givint the nut a sharp bash with a hammer. That way the threads of the cotter don't get peened over or damaged, and the larger area of the nut, spreads the load more evenly down the cotter itself. Worked a treat for me, for many, many years. Still does, as strangely, did one a few months ago, on an old vintage 'sit up and beg' rod braked bike. Instant sucess!! ;)
 
That's the way, but I use two hammers.

Small light one to strike the flush nut, and a lump hammer directly below but to one side of the protruding lower end of the cotter pressed up hard on the pedal body...

Hopefully "new school" will take note and remember....

I don't mind admitting I pay full attention to new school who have info, experience and knowledge on gizmoes like obd stuff and computers.

There is a really good on line book about all Bosch sensors etc..

I will awaken the laptop it's on for those interested, but be patient as this internet phone is basic.

I can load it onto a memory stick and take that to library to send via email....if your interested just let me know....
