***FIAT DUCATO IMMOBILISER FAULT***
Can Anyone help please. I have a fault on my 2004/06 2.8jtd Fiat Ducato motorhomes Immobiliser. The padlock light on the dashboard is flashing with two flash intervals and the engine turns over but will not start when you turn the key. I have had the keys checked, checked all wiring connections to both the main ecu and the small immobiliser ecu mounted on the steering column, replaced the antenna ring around the ignition and tried all sorts of things but the fault remains. I can start the van by putting in the emergency code with the accelerator pedal and counting the flashes via the engine management light but I really need to fix it properly. Does anyone know - if i replace the small immobiliser ecu unit, will it need to be coded or have any idea on how I may be able to repair this fault. I,ve read that I can place a wire from the switched side of the ignition directly to the solenoid on the diesel pump after breaking the top/pcb section off and that this will overcome the fault but i'm aware that all the ecu.s and the solenoid valve all talk to each other. I'm scared that if I mess the system around, I may not be able to get the van started at all. Can anyone help please.
many thanks Graham

You can forget about running a wire to the solenoid that was for the old dumb mechanical pumps.

If you want immobilizer off the ecu need to be removed and the eeprom inside rewritten with immobilizer removed and the immobilizer unit on the steering column disconnected you probably need to fit a tatcham immobilizedr then to keep insurance happy.

It may be that the rolling code in the immobilizer and ecu are simply out of sync often due to cranking with a low battery. In that case reprogramming the keys to the van with Alfa obd or lexia or locksmith tools may be sufficient.

You're grasping at straws without diagnostics.

Hi Corcia
Thanks for the reply. The van is booked in with an auto electrician later this week to try and investigate for me. I have studied/worked hard to try and overcome the fault and was checking to see if I had any other options before seeking costly professional help. I already have a second after market alarm/ immobiliser fitted and was hoping to use this as the vehicle protection.
