I didn't know this until one of the guys at work mentioned it the other day but apparently if you have three or more children of school age you are entitled to a discount on your water rates. He has literally halved his bills.

Just goes to prove what a mad country we live in. If you use more water you pay less. Even when my house was empty for eight or nine months when I was trying to sell it just as the crash started (failed) and you use no water at all you are not entitled to a penny in discounts. But if you have a large family and use loads of water you can half your bill! Nuts.

Anyway, it may well be worth you people with three or more kids checking it out with your local water board.

My landlord pays ours :p

Just as well,

7 girls + lots of water being used= Some sad students

There is more to it than just having 3 kids..........

We earn good money where we work but that doesn't stop the benefit juggernaut from handing out cash to people who really don't need it so he gets Child Tax Credits. If you have kids you probably get this so you can therefore claim a reduction in your water rates.

I'm married and my wife's kids are grown up so we get SFA except the right to be taxed to death because we both work hard.

You're right - have 12 kids and live on the dole and whaddya know, yet another benefit to encourage you to have yet more kids  It may be of help to some but it just encourages others to not give a ****.

Hmmmmm??? try as I might, the fact I would get a slight discount on my water bill does not encourage me to have 12, or even 13 children (y)

I make no comment on my local water board - useless bunch of lazy buttwipes

I am at present on unmetered flat rate, I live alone so am coughing up the best part of 500 sobs

I asked to go to metered because it will be much cheaper, the meter was fitted on the arranged date back on August, no problem.

But have those bunch of :tosser: :tosser: sorted out revising the bill ? No

When I have twice called to query, have they called back ? No

At this rate I will have a few months of 0 amount due whilst they catch up on what I have overpaid :bang: :bang:

Methinks monday will be rant day :bang:
