My Punto broke down while driving along and I eventually got it to start by replacing the coil packs. (see previous post) But it's difficult to start now - it needs quite a few turns, whereas before I changed the coil it would fire up readily.
I also notice that there is a slightly "tappety" sound coming from the engine. What would cause these issues?

coil can spark if the Horse has eaten the HT's and the sparkies have lost there spark

Instead of doing just coils - finish the job thats probably needed and do the HT's and sparkies too!!

I repalced all 3 items (coils sparks ht's) when i lost 1 coil pack
dont wanna backfeed the ECU's :( they are fragile, and dont like it

Thanks, it broke down anyway. Sounds like timing belt broke, so I sold it for scrap value.

you shouid of just put another timing belt and tensioner on,
less than 30 quid and it wouid of been up and running again,

no need to scrap punto's unless theyre rusty ones that dont have nothing left to
weld too,

good luck with next motor (y)
