Styling Defender of the styling

Is it me, or does the styling of the new Land Rover Defender have more than a passing resemblance to a Panda Cross?

Well yes ...but I think that is a common thing with modern car design. It's sad but they almost all look the same ...a kind of euro jellymold ....It's like designers are to scared to do anything new 'cos they might not sell.... I have not seen the new defender in the flesh but the photos of it make it look a bit precious, easy to scratch or dent ...imho..

Indeed, lots of same shapes out there. I thought when the 500 wee SUV came out, it looked like one of those big minis that BMW have.

It looks like a scaled up Skoda Yeti and the "110" looks too long.

What happened to the company who bought the old Defender jigs and tooling?

The Spanish Santana PS10 looks almost identical to a Defender, bar the badges. I'm not sure if they bought the tooling though.

I'd forgotten about that and the older ones are basically the same though I may well be wrong but are they not closer to Series III than the later Defenders. Who knows, the Defender was just a Series III with pushed forwards grille.

But this does not quite work. Not sure it it's been chopped or if its a new model.
