General cooling fan - buying replacement

hi,
Rad cooling fan is really rough running - I want to replace it before it packs-up and cooks the engine ( no Temp gauge).

is there a cheaper cross-over part ?,

does the fan blade easily come off the motor??

any good deals on genuine replacements?,

(I tried a search - didn't work..!! + not in "stickies")

Pretty sure there's nowt else that's a straight fit.

I'm pretty sure the fan can be persuaded to come off, but.............

There are plenty of better quality aftermarket units out there at better prices than the OE units, but they'll all require some degree of fitting. Try Car Builder Solutions (Google will find) for example.

ive never achieved fan off blade due to corrosion issues
if money really is too tight to mention then ive fitted a fan from a siciento onto a punto by drilling out the rivets and then using bolts so anything is possible
just make sure fan pulls rather than pushes if you do do a monster fit

Scrap yard is probably a best bet

However ensure the fan works before removal
ie give it a spin to test bearings and power it up to ensure it pulls sufficent air

I'm considering fitting one of these, as it's the same money as a used punto one - and at least has a guarantee ..!!

if you intend going this route your enemy is radiator core damage so i would pay a little more and get the full kit

I hadn't measured the punto fan for comparison,
but either way it's got to be a safer bet then one from a scrappy,
