After yet more near misses, I'm seriously considering one these come payday (have to forgo a couple of luxuries and live like a real student for a month...you know...caviar and champagne only once a week and what not lol).

MEP - seriously considering the one you recommended - I just have one question: anyone tried hard wiring in the power supply?

As a Fiat defector now driving a Mk2.5 Focus, my only fag lighter sockets are next to the handbrake or hidden inside the armrest cubbyhole. Having that chuffin' great plug sticking up would be inconvienient to say the least.

I'm thinking wire in a new socket behind the glove box (blanked off cap there, not sure on wiring though) and securing it there...

i had one of those, but i had loads of problems with it. it was a freebee one anyhoo thanks to slugworth1987.
it would not record onto any memory card no matter what class it was.

now days i use it as PC camera heh.

the one i have in my car is sweet as. ive got it in the house now, going to upload some videos from it soon.

My one of them works fine also luckily, until it fell of the screen when parked last week and the bracket snapped :bang:

The camera itself isn't hard wired, but I've hard wired a 4 gang under the glove box which it's plugged into (along with 2nd dash cam and speed camera locator) for the very reason your looking at doing similar (y)

Guys, anyone out there with a dual cam jobbie looked at footage for more than a few minutes?

I've just reviewed footage from mine from yesterday - two excellent snow related 'mishaps' & two f****d up bits of footage.

The rear cam shows a car in the distance. The vid stops but audio continues. 1 min later, the vid starts again with the car up my *rse.
A few seconds later I turn the corner, the car heads off towards the opposite kerb, & up onto a mound of earth (designed to stop pikeys putting their vans on the field). The car stops inches before dropping into the ditch.
Sadly, the vid, again, stops when the car is a yard from the kerb - but you can clearly hear me PMSL as the nob fails to control the car.

The second clip should show a van turning left ahead of me & spinning out. The vid stops just as the van starts the turn & restarts just after the van sets off - but the audio continues.

(n)(n)(n)

The card is a samsung micro SD 32GB class 10 - so I can't see any reason why that should be at fault.
Maybe the camera is just a dodgy one?
Although the unit recycles, I wonder if it might be an idea to pop the card out once a week & wipe it?

Might have a look at the others linked to on here.

I'll check mine, however I specifically not fitted a 16gb card to prevent your issues, as it's not unknown for some things to **** themselves with cards bigger than 16gb (even though some state they an take 32/64gb etc).

You could be right. Never occurred it might be the device can't handle the capacity.
I'm using an 8GB in my tablet, I'll give it a whirl in the camera & maybe look to buyng a class 10 16GB card for the camera.(y)

yes, i have hard wired mine in. it only needs a 5 volt usb lead so i got one of them cheapo fag lighter to USB adaptions, soldered wires directly onto the end positive pin, then on the negative side pin and then used heat shrink tubing around the whole thing to make it safe.

i then wired it in to my red wire on the cars radio, as that only comes live when the ignition is on. i also used the radio's earth.
i then just used the data transfer cable in the car to USB adapter, ran that under all the plastic trim then routed it to the camera mounted in the center of the windscreen.

works like a treat!

Glad you got the gist of my poor post, ment to say 'specifically fitted', I'm unsure where 'not' came from

Dragon Man. What I find really interesting is - like yours, the rear cam on mine is way, way better than the front at night - it's hard to believe those clips are taken at the same time.

What I would like to see is a unit using two tiny cams (like the rear cam) where the unit can be mounted remotely.
Set up the cams first to get the angles, then mount the main unit under the dash/in the glove box etc

I'd like one that I can mount the DVR in the boot or engine bay where there is space and have 2 cameras attached.

After witnessing an almost accident last night i went to review the footage and also found the footage to have random freezes in it. Luckily it go the main part. I wonder if its a problem with the 32Gb when they get full. I had mine set to 5 mins aswell and the part with the recording in I wanted happened to be 10 mins long! Maybe its struggling to split and delete in a reasonable time. I have dropped it down to 2 min segments and deleted all old data that's not needed.

Think ill go and buy a 16Gb card.
