cheap dash cam?

Mep, was that taken on one of these?

And what is the A+B recording meaning?
Does it split the screen to record or does it record both channels the same size at once?

This looks like a good replacement for the cheapo troublesome one I previously got.

I've got that one as well.
Now looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200866860951?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

as it's the next gen of that cam (60fps HD 720p) and cheap as chips - ideal pressies for all the family.

The A + B recording is the front & rear cam. The device records from both cams at the same time & you end up with two sets of files.

The screen darkens after a few minutes (it might be possible to alter this (but my destructions are all in chinese so God only knows).
I have worked out that it starts up with front cam main screen & rear cam as PiP. Pressing a button on the remote removes the rear PiP, press again & it puts the rear pic as the main.

Sound repro on mine is a bit ropey (think I did an earlier link) & despite what the info says, mine is reluctant to behave itself with anything over a 16 gig card (see earlier post).

The one I linked to above is known as the F70N. (60fps, HD 720p)
The one evostevo linked to is the F70 (30fps)
There is also a gps version - F70G
(although, having owned a cam with gps facility, I'm beggared if I can find a good enough reason to have gps on a camcorder aside from the fact that is can display your speed - but in most cases I have managed to do this anyway).

Re: The Dash Camera Thread (Videos)

Freebo and I both use a slight earlier model of this, with 24/30 PFS, this one has 60 though, and I've just brought one for another of our cars as the price seems to have dropped.

Do you leave them in the car all the time? I like the idea of having one, but not the hassle of removing every time nor the risk of leaving it in place and visible.

Yep, fairly discrete in their fitment. Then again East Anglia is a fairly crime free area, but leave them in when in most parts of South London also.

The area of Sheffield I live in is also low risk, and the car is parked off road - I'd worry if I needed to park the car in a strange place though.

Can you take some photos of what it looks like fitted?

Re: The Dash Camera Thread (Videos)

Ordering a one of these from a British distributer tomorrow :) can they be hard wired to an ignition source? Im guessing the massive 12v plug contains a 12v to 5v transformer?

Things seem to be going in the right direction (AFAIC).

Separate DVR with screen - looks a nice size - could be stored in a glovebox (wonder if the vanity mirror could be taken out & this put in its place?)

The cameras shown on the box are great as they are so unobtrusive & not at all obvious to would-be thieves - a real shame they look to have replaced those with some horrible looking cameras - assuming those suction mounts are tandard size, the cameras must be enormous (n)
Also, the specs aren't very clear.
