cheap dash cam?

Sweet, I see they go up to 5m, wonder if there's any degredation/power loss on that length?

i wired one of them in to ff bus and smoke started to come out

Yeah, I once did that on my old ducatto-based adapted bus. turned out the cigar socket was actually 24v  :D
Still, the fan worked REALLY well for a little while:D (I assume it was the socket smoking & not the USB cable? I bought a 3 way from the local cheap shop, it popped fuses every time I plugged it in!)

Been using it two years without issue, asking as its not over loading the system then its fine.

Its pretty negligible. Yes you do, but not enough to notice, I've a 3m and a 5m one for the pc and they both download data from a usb at the same rate/speed

Nope, Single camera looking at the ad

@Freebo and I have the twin camera jobbie. and me:D

I'm looking down the route of getting one of these now for when the car is parked up during the day.

Good spot with the single lens. I quickly noticed a couple of the pics - the side view has the external cam input - until you get right down to the bottom of the page - where they use a pic of the cam they are sending.

I was reading somewhere, one guy was using a cheapo rechargeable power supply. The sort of thing you'd take camping. Small solar panel charging a battery pack. & had a cheapo dashcam linked to that purely for the parked up scenario. These twin cams would be ideal as they cover front & rear, used as a dedicated 'parked up' cam?

But I think the other functions are also important, such as night vision function, we can't avoid driving at night. Besides, Definition is also an important measure when judging the cam.

Trouble with screens is it increases the size of what's stuck to your windscreen.
The DR32 isn't huge - but it's annoying to have it dangling. Having the display on is also a distraction (so mine is set to auto off after 1 min).

The beauty of this is the small profile where the lens is. I'm planning to mount mine to the very top of the screen.
This cam also has the A/V out - so images can be streamed to a remote screen or USB connection to smartphone, laptop etc for initial setup or ongoing monitoring.
There are many who are now calling for 2 tiny remote cams connected to a central control box which can be hidden out of the way. Having an expensive looking dashcam stuck to your screen is a temptation to thieves.

The way I have my F70 dual cam mounted, the main cam is almost horizontal & so presents minimal aspect to anyone looking through my windscreen - it does make the cam's screen almost impossible to view without laying on the seat:D

The only 'downside' for me is that 10 mins of video uses 1.32GB, so a 32GB card will fill up after ~4hrs
The DR32 uses 455MB for a 5min file - so not quite enough for an 8 hour shift but it's worked well so far (apart from the damned mic problem.

I want to see how long they last, their predecessors were ok, for a few days, or weeks if you were lucky, before they packed up completly. (n)
Although, to be fair, there were a shedload of copies out there.
I've still got my #16 cam & that would run for an 8 hour shift non-stop.
Although I liked much about it, it was such a PITA not having auto start/stop & not driving the same vehicle day after day meant I had to set up the cam each morning.
The DR32 is from the same stables & mine has been doing 2x4 hour shifts, 5 days a week since I got it.
I think the reason they included the heatsink on the mobius was because of overheating problems.
As it stands, the only problem, for me, is a 32GB card will only last half a day, so any incidents early on & I'd have to make sure I pulled the files or swapped out the card!

I've actually just ordered a Mobius, but for FPV use. :D

I also have a DR32 II (Hobby King version), a #18 808 and finally a GoPro2.

I could do a comparison when the Mobius arrives if anyone is interested. It has a lot of (manufacturer) support on the RC Groups forum and seems a lot more polished than the #16 .

The reason I got it is because I won't cry as much if I lose it. ;)

FPV?

First Person .....

View

It's where you control a radio controlled model from a camera in the first person view. The camera you control with is actually a lower quality item normally due to transmission limitations, however you have a HD cam on board to record your adventure.

Team Black Sheep Vids here should make it clear:

However for the purpose of the test I would do it in a car to make it relevant for you chaps. :)

Doesn't seem that cheap?

I use UHS-I which is considerably quicker and nearly the same price.

I actually only use 8GB which is big enough for my fairly short flights.

Most of the camera manufacturers say Class 4 is fast enough for at least 720 HD.

EDIT: (My Samsung is way quicker than that Scandisk though (48mbs) )
