cheap dash cam?

well lets say ive never brought a dash cam in my life, so if i decide to invest in one, which i intend to cause after my first incident a few weeks back that got resolved in the most easiest way possible but doesnt mean to say everyone will be like that so a dash cam for me is a big must!!! so i want a cam that comes with a good enough mount that i can stick the cam to windscreen and be done with it

Get the one I got then.

For the money, it's a good little setup. Covering front and rear of the car in one neat, compact unit.
It'll do the job you want for very little outlay.
Mine's almost a year old & only problems I had was from using a class 10 SD card. Now using a class 6 and no problems.

I'm hankering after the mobius because it's the latest from the manufacturers of the 808 keyfob cams. I used to own the #16 - a very good little cam but not really a dashcam (no auto start/stop), it's primary task was a simple spy-type device. The remote control community took it to heart for its size/quality. The mobius is supposed to be the pinnacle.
It's as good as similarly spec'd/priced cams (such as the DR32) but half the size & a presenting aspect barely larger than its lens.
For me, the best point (aside from video quality & pedigree) is the smartphone app & the ability to set the camera up from the phone, view footage & download if needed.
This could be a really useful feature at the scene of an accident - being able to get a file & send by email or bluetooth to police?

the feature you mentioned about email and bluetooth that sounds great, just a feature most drivers need these days considering the amount of people who are involved in accidents and third party flees from it without a trace, having that footage you can bring the other driver to justice
will most likely post an reply when i got one and its all setup and post a test video of it

That's still as funny as fook - especially when you crank the quality up to max & put it on fullscreen.

And that's the reason why I will be investing in 2 cams, to keep that coverage.
I reckon with the better quality cam, you'd be able to pinpoint the EXACT moment she creates skidmarks :devil:

@ benny, if you want the rear cam I reckon you would have to carefully cut a small circle in the tint. I've just got the sunshades in my rear windows but still had to make a small hole. with the lens being black, you don't really notice it from the outside.
You'd really need to test it first.

It's actually a bit spooky. On the dashcam forums, someone asked what our ideal system would be & people were wanting dual external cams but also loads of bells & whistles.
About the middle of the month I came in with "maybe we're going about this the wrong way..."

I suggested using existing tech (i mentioned the, then, experimental mobius), two good small cams, each with their own power supply, each with their own SD card.
But, add bluetooth & create an app for smartphone.

I suggested the app could be used to setup both cams, sync time & date etc. Also, the app could utilise the phone's inbuilt GPS - create it's own file & save just gps data with timestamp (thinking you could download a file & the app could maybe merge the gps data to the file).
The bluetooth idea would also allow video feed so you could use the rear cam as a reversing cam.

So, now they've launched the cam & there is an app. I just want some way of maybe connecting one cam via bluetooth. It has a USB port so some sort of bluetooth transmitter that also allows power through to the cam?
Any ideas??

Edit. Just pulled my card to get a file from this afternoon's trip from work. When you've got hands the size of shovels, pulling those tiny frikkin SD cards out is no easy task - so pulling the file via bluetooth would be a godsend.

Actually, I'm sure I've seen some with waterproof cams - although maybe they say that to sell them & the system is pants.

Maybe you could think about placing the rear cam elsewhere?

Some cars have loads of space inside the plastic casing where the light clusters are (inbetween individual lights).
Maybe buy one of them shark fin aerial things, scoop out the insides & mount the cam in there using silicone sealant.
Maybe mount it under or even in a spoiler?
Maybe one of those eye level brake lights - the ones with clear plastic & red LEDs?

That rear video was shot out of this, with factory fitted tints and I don't have any issues

obviously mine aren't factory fitted but, id say the look similar...
like i can see clearly out of the rear window easily with center mirror, and if i remember correctly i did video of my sub a while back and my phone camera saw right out the back window no problem
but i guess only way of finding out is buying it, fitting it and do a test video

Cheers, nearly 3 months since smart car rear ended me and only getting it back tomorrow morning after 2nd attempt at repair as I wasn't happy with it first time around. I hope it'll be a nice car again, like it was before hand

bet the excuse from the other driver i wasnt paying attention like the chap said to me when it bumped into me....

i was happy with my result from body shop from that incident where that chap collided into me, he did turn on the day it was ready for collection and whipped out his wallet and paid for the repair

don't forget to make sure you test drive it & check the files as soon as you can.

I've just looked at one of my files, a 2 minute clip uses 72meg of data. I have a 32gig card which has 2 folders each containing 142 x 2minute files - that's around 4.5 hours worth of recording. (the other 2 folders are the lock files (for g-sensor recordings) but I have mine turned off since it fills up too quickly even on lowest setting.
If you have a serious prang, I imagine you won't be doing anymore driving for a while?
Even a small shunt at the start of a long journey would be fairly safe, and if this were to happen at the start of a long journey, I'd be pulling into the nearest town, heading for a big supermarket & paying slightly over the odds for a new SD card to use for the rest of my journey.

I'm very keen on improving my dual cam system (the F70, like yours) & thinking about getting two mobius cams (if Techmoan rates them highly).
Be good to power the rear cam from a USB at the front.
I have a 12v extension with 2 12v outputs and 2 usb sockets wired up to a delay timer (to prevent stop/start problems) which will provide a nice little focal point to download files onto my phone.
