Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) - mania continued......

Introduction

So having been amused at everyone guessing who have bought Char' I own up, t'was me :nerner:

Obviously having just picked up today I don't really have much to say, but I am a happy bunny. I have many plottings going on in my head as to what to do with it - you'll just have to wait and see what happens in the long term, in the short term gonna pretty much leave it and enjoy panda-life for a bit.

Anyway, everyone like pics over waffling... ;)

Got a lift from Simon in exchange for a full tank of fuel (should have half left still i think lol).

Few hours and a pitstop to eat a Subway for brekkie and then.... A wild Charmander appeared :D

Was not the best weather on the drive back but Char' ran faultlessly

Stopped about halfway home for quick pitstop and to get a pic to share on facebook for all the people guessing what I had bought before it got too dark.

And finally made it home - was mildly amusing getting out the panda to move my alfa forward a touch and practically stamping a hole through the floor cause its such a light pedal compared to the panda.... I hate to think what it would be like going from panda to suzuki as that is way way way lighter pedals than even the alfa.

All 3 fit on the drive, albeit quite close together.. But the garage is empty and Char' will live in there when not being driven - just couldn't be bothered to move all the cars around after being in the car all day.

impossible with what i have to work with...

- 19mm 12 point deep socket,
- M8 bolt, simmilar length as the socket,
- some lubricant,
- G clamp

Put the bolt in to the socket so the bolt head stays inside.
Press in the bush in to the socket.
compress with g clamp.
When the bush will engage drive it as far as you can, use the socket on the oposite site to press is fully home.

ps. red bushes are crap, orange are rubbish made from pasta, black ones are cheap at Fiat.

Nope. Haven't really ever watches much wheeler dealers, although i have seen the monstrosity that resulted of them getting a panda... still not as bad as when pimp my ride did one though lol..
A vice is just what I decided would be best approach after trying and failing for a few hours lol..

Yup, I can vouch for the vice approach being a great way to crush your nice new bush out of shape:(

right, leave that little project until next weekend - visiting my mother and just had a quick word with her other half and he has a vice on his bench in the garage so will take the rods with me and do it there (y)

Another small order or bits made today.. gave my spare bit of vac line away recently to plumb up a mates boost gauge, so had to order a little bit more for the map sensor - will swap the fpr line as well from the old rubber one on there atm.
Also some silicone hose blanks, 2 for the barbs on back of the throttle body, 2 more for the coolant through throttle body (decided i'm just not gonna run coolant through it, not like i use it in winter anyway, but i shall cap them to prevent any crap getting in there incase i plumb it up later) and another one to blank the brake servo take-off on the inlet mani.

The panda heater line is not long enough to get to the pipe it needs to go onto on the inlet mani so ordered a short piece of pipe, found a joiner in my tool box i will use for that.

Took the tach out for Owen too, this swap to cinq dash cluster is gonna be pretty tricky looking at it but we will try jump that hurdle when we get there. I really need to spend more time getting this engine swap finished but i kinda lost some enthusiasm for it recently - clearly not gonna get to drive it before the gritters come out and so all forms of urgency have leaked out of me. I'm not giving up, far from it, just not done much recently and the future is looking pretty busy atm - so just doing little bits here and there atm. Oh i pulled the throttle cable out, mostly fitted new one, just need to push the bung part into the firewall properly, sounds way easier than it actually is lol.

I have a pedal box and servo etc already, just not fitting it at this point. Its not gonna be hugely fast or anything. I got the pedal box etc from Dragonman ages ago when I was still thinking of making silly fast tjet panda and was gonna put bigger brakes on it. If I do at some point put bigger brakes on (have full set of punto gt calipers, fronts and rears) I will stick the pedals and servo on then. All I would need to do it is a new master cylinder, i have loads of brake line already. I do wonder if a cento or punto master cylinder would bolt upto the servo, something to look into for the future i guess.

Steve has blocked me on facebook for some reason  kinda a shame as he always has loads of bits for sale too. I know Steve from cento-land, always seemed to get on fine in person so no idea why

hahaha - if anything i am a cento rescuer! My last cinq i literally bought cause the lad was gonna scrap it, gave him exactly what the scrap man offered, i actually got it on the road all legal and mot'd for under £300. Granted i then bought a 16v engine, a custom exhaust, changed all the suspension, swapped brakes, pretty much every bush on the car, changed wheels & tyres. Basically renewed the whole car lol.

Right not really an update but it had got to the point that I could really get in the garage... I'm a messy worker...

So spent few hours yday pulling everything from in front and down side of Char out the garage, this meant I had space to move the engine crane down the back which is great, that thing was massively in the way.
Chucked loads of scrap metal in my neighbours car that is due to be scrapped. Put everything back in some kind of order. Can actually get to the panda now. Just get rid of the cardboard come recycling collection day.

SPACE! (well as much as you can expect in a little single garage)

Also got a pile of spares in a pile to put up for sale, will sort that soon but if you are after anything from the old engine drop me a PM. Main things at mo are ignition stuff, pointless dizzy with new cap and rotor, new leads. Also the carb and throttle cable, airbox, alternator, starter blah blah. Will sort some actual adverts sometime soon.
