Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) - mania continued......

Introduction

So having been amused at everyone guessing who have bought Char' I own up, t'was me :nerner:

Obviously having just picked up today I don't really have much to say, but I am a happy bunny. I have many plottings going on in my head as to what to do with it - you'll just have to wait and see what happens in the long term, in the short term gonna pretty much leave it and enjoy panda-life for a bit.

Anyway, everyone like pics over waffling... ;)

Got a lift from Simon in exchange for a full tank of fuel (should have half left still i think lol).

Few hours and a pitstop to eat a Subway for brekkie and then.... A wild Charmander appeared :D

Was not the best weather on the drive back but Char' ran faultlessly

Stopped about halfway home for quick pitstop and to get a pic to share on facebook for all the people guessing what I had bought before it got too dark.

And finally made it home - was mildly amusing getting out the panda to move my alfa forward a touch and practically stamping a hole through the floor cause its such a light pedal compared to the panda.... I hate to think what it would be like going from panda to suzuki as that is way way way lighter pedals than even the alfa.

All 3 fit on the drive, albeit quite close together.. But the garage is empty and Char' will live in there when not being driven - just couldn't be bothered to move all the cars around after being in the car all day.

Speaking of the lenses I still need to order those bulbs... so much to do! Will get around to it at some point ;) I do remember seeing those ones on Ricambio come to think of it now. I thought they were oem, but suppose not then!

well it normally says genuine oem on their website if it is... This just doesn't seem upto standard to be a genuine part. Looks totally fine now i have trimmed the little bits of excess plastic off though, and it was pretty cheap - i found one in Italy that was much much more and i'm not sure that was genuine item either, nor did it have the metal bars on it.

Right well....
Rebuilt gear linkages all fitted up.
Front coil springs changed and struts refitted.
Driveahafts in.
Been round and tightened loads of bolts up, engine is defo not gonna fall out now lol.
Went to fit a new clutch cable but i bought the wrong one it seems, same at box end but wrong at pedal end. Doh.

Car is now back on the ground and able to roll about. Calling it quits for today. I can push it out now when all my new lights for the garage arrive next week..

well after quite a bit of searching for a reasonably priced clutch cable of the right type, managed to find one for £12.37 with free delivery, seemed very reasonable so ordered despite being totally skint..

Oh, i agreed to buy some new wheels too, should be getting them in a couple of weeks - need painting but i'm pretty excites about them - look out for a post on that soon.

Well the new clutch cable was same fittings as the original but its a fair bit longer.... but thats ok it works. Now have gears and clutch. Winning.

Pulled it out the garage to fit the new lighting, been ages since was out so grabbed couple of pics... we like pics

Put a light either side of the garage and another across the back. Stuck Char' back in and damn, why did i not do this a year ago!?!?

Spotted these in the forum classifieds from Brooky and just had to have them. They are Wellers in proper 4x98, they are 13 x 5.5j so not overly big. Not sure on the offset but roughly measured as about 18. Clearly gonna stick out the front arches but hoping not too badly.
They got some a bit of rust as you can see buts just superficial, will prob get them blasted and powdercoated but really its not priority, once the car is running and MOTd I'll look at getting them sorted and getting tyres on them. I will of course test fit them at some point an grab pics though ?

6j then lol... I really need to whack one on the front and see how... erm... ridiculously poke-y out-y they are - i'm running them whatever happens anyway lol. Cause they are epic!

edit: Totally forgot to look for an alternator for you Brooky  I defo have one you can take you just might have to swap over the pulley for a cinq one cause i think its a mk2 punto one. If you got time to pop over to Forest-of-Dean before you go back up north we'll sort it out - you can see the panda and stuff to ;) sorry about that buddy, just been running around and it slipped my mind last week that i said i would dig one out.

defo no spacers on the front - only had one wheel off back once and i don't remember there being any spacers.. Next time i have a front wheel off i'll try get a pic of how and where it catches, i really am just gonna massage the caliper carrier rather than space the wheel, which sounds a bit extreme but its really not a biggy, a pic or vid would help explain what i mean no end, its such a tiny slither of material that needs removing. Sadly my grinder died end of last year and I'm yet to replace - but I'll get a new one soon, mine was ancient and the bearing noisy as hell, amazing its lasted as long as it has tbh.

nope sorry, been really busy... i did get married and am currently on my honeymoon.

Work and personal life has just been manic this year. I will get it done though fear not - I have sourced the fitting required for the fuel rail now, just need to get it off my mate when i get home and I'll be on the home stretch really. Mount the fuel pump somewhere, plumb it up, connect the engine loom and figure out where to mount the ecu and then it should fire up, assuming the ecu really is an immobilised one as I was told. Then it will just be a matter of sorting an exhaust, although i think with what i have I should be able to connect up the stock exhaust - we'll see if the downpipe has been cut too short or not once its bolted on. I still am hopikng to get a csc 4-2-1 manifold for it that i agreed to buy from Lee Winrow what seems like an age ago but have never got round to collecting.

Once its running and MOT'd again I will have a look at making these wheels fit and prob move to renewing everything at the rear of the car like I did the front. And whether I can make this cinq sporting instrument cluster fit - I know I can make it work but actually fitting it in the dash and it not looking out of place looks like it might be tricky lol.

So when I am back next week i have 3 weeks work to catch up on, on a project that started in February and is scheduled to end beginning of November, sigh. I got 3 weddings to go to in June & July. It really is just a matter of finding the time to work on it and there not be something else thats more crucial and needs doing atm. But it will be finished as soon as i can ;)
