Technical Broken springs

Well that’s both my front springs on my 2016 Trekking broken together. No harsh driving, and only had it since August.
Did Fiat acknowledge this as a fault, or not?
Are the Trekking springs different to non trekking models?

Broken springs seem to be a issue generally these days. It affects lots of makes and models. I think it is a combiation of lighter springs (less weight = improved fuel consumption) and more potholes and speed bumps in the raods. Not an acknoledged design or manufacturing defect as far as I know.

Check shop4parts for fitment detail..

One other thing to consider -- if the upper bearing has seized then the spring will be under torsional loads it wasnt designed for..

They are easy to check when it is all apart

The trekking uses a longer spring, about 400mm or something, while the regular spring is 350mm.

If you are getting them done it might be worth doing the top mounts as well (if they haven't been done) as they are a known issue. If you buy the parts yourself they aren't too expensive.

I was looking to do it myself.
Fiat dealer quoted £200 parts and £180 to fit !
These are £44 each!

Can be done yourself if you don't mind a bit of dirt and swearing at sticky bolts. I did mine but didn't have spring compressors (cheap pair can be bought for less than £15), so I took it to local mechanic who put the spring onto the strut (for free only took him 3 mins). Then brought it home and mounted to the car.
£200 for a pair is taking the ****, unless Fiat have started using performance progressive lowering springs as OEM replacements

Sachs are a very long established brand..

I have no knowledge of this product..
My 1981 Sachs suspension didnt use springs

Which 'parts' did FIAT quote for

Bearings.. mounts bolts and new nylocks ?

Or just the springs?
