Another MK2 in the fold

Another MK2 in the fold

Will see what the story is then I guess :)

Just looking on fleabay for parts. Quite a lot to be getting on with, still very undecided about alloys for the old girl though! I've always had a spot for the anthracite GT alloys, and have seem them on a few MK2's over the years. But maybe I could something different? Decisions decisions!

i would personally just go for multispokes of some description purely because when the car is dropped, it'll give it a meaner look, especially if they were painted :) dont go above 16" though, the mk2 is horrible to drive on 17's, will also blunt acceleration a touch

Ok obviously I'm a couple of posts/updates short here due to the server move. In a nutshell.

Mark and I plan to drive the long way from Edinburgh to Glasgow in June. That is, right around the coast of Scotland. In the Punto.

Work began early on the Sunday of the Dundee meet, and with a good clean, continued today.

After quite a while spent faffing around with Tar and Glue remover and an old Game loyalty card, my mate Mike decided to tell me he'd a Karcher pressure washer at his flat. So we headed there to complete the removal process for today.

Well, the intention today had been to continue stripping out the rear interior of the car, but Houston..we've got a problem!

Went up to Persley to have a look around for parts and managed to rip the sump and, by the sounds of it, the cat/downpipe/exhaust in the car park. Anyone who's ever been to Persley will know the car park is a disgrace, there basically isn't one, there's just some wasteground and you takes your chances. I took mine, grounded out on the kerb and then managed to clunk the underside of the car on a loose rock. Go me!

I'm really not bothered about the blowing exhaust, as the long term plan involves a new full exhaust system. HOWEVER the engine is now completely dry of oil. I drove a mile or two home from the scrappies before realising the extent of the problem, so again theres a possibility of long term damage.

Quite what to do from here, I'm not sure. Looking at the price of sumps on ebay but hoping someone on here might have a spare kicking around?

wouldnt worry about damaging the engine if it's coming out anyway :) i dont have any sumps lying around, you'll need a **** load of sealant aswell. sumps a pain to do around gearbox end iirc

depends on how much sealant was used to make a gasket on the old one i guess  the flywheel covers the pain though is it not? theres bolts hidden around the gearbox
